Waitlist “work flow” question for AKV stay
I need some info on the “work flow” for points if a waitlist is granted. We are Feb UY with a deluxe studio savanna view booked Feb 1-6 using 2027 points. Decided to add on Jan. 31 with remaining 2026 points. Have the same room type booked as my Feb 1-6 stay, but decided to waitlist CLub level for Jan. 31 since it is already just booked as a one night stay.
When you waitlist and request to replace existing stay, does it use all of those points from the existing stay before borrowing needed points? Or does it book the waitlist first so that it is secured before canceling the existing? With it being my last day of my UY, I definitely don’t want 23 points borrowed rather than using the 14 points from the current stay first. If that is how it is done, I will just cancel my waitlist.
TIA!

When you waitlist to replace an existing stay, it will use those points before borrowing the remainder. The odds of club level coming through are extremely low, but we usually put in a waitlist if we have one available!
When a waitlist comes through, you will receive an email stating your reservation is cancelled, followed by an uncomfortably long wait as you receive an email that your waitlist reservation has been booked.
Good luck!

Thank you! This is very helpful! Yes, I know it is a long shot, but I figured now is the time to do it since I have the separate one day reservation to try with. If it doesn’t come through, I can just link the two existing reservations to stay in the same room all week. Either way is just fine.
