New DCL Policies
I figured this forum (Non-Them Park) would be the best place to share this, isn't though it isn't specifically DVC related. However, there is a DVC cruise on DCL and a lot of DVC members are avid cruisers on DCL. DCL just dropped two new policies, one that is FANTASTIC and a long time coming...and another that isn't great if you take advantage of the policy allowing you to bring alcohol on board.
First, the good news! DCL just announced a policy limiting door magnets to just the door. Hallelujah!! I am not "get off my lawn guy", and my wife and I enjoy seeing the imagination that some people use to decorate their doors. However, it gets really obnoxious when guests feel the need to have their "door" decorations spill out into the hallways. We have seen some guests that have decorated up to 6ish feet on each side of their door. The decorating beyond the door turns what was some cute "flavor" on their door into clutter that is an eyesore. DCL knocked it out of the park with this new policy! Decorate your door, go nuts...just keep the decorations to the door itself.
Second, the not so great news. Guests are now limited to carry on board one bottle of wine or a 6 pack of beer. The policy used to be up to 2 bottles of wine. This one kind of stinks, but I get it. My wife and I would always bring a few bottles of wine (2 in her carryon and 1 or 2 in mine) on each cruise. It was great for enjoying on the verandah or pouring a glass to enjoy while we walked the ship (note: my wife's code for shopping is "let's go walk the ship"...lol). Bringing your own alcohol also has the huge benefit of cutting down on the cost of the drinks while on board. I get it, though. We know several DCL bartenders who have said it is slightly annoying when guests take all the bar's wine glasses in order to pour the wine they brought on board, and then the glasses don't get returned until the room hosts find them and bring them to the bars. Just to note, we ALWAYS bring our glasses back to the bar out of common courtesy. Anyway, I figured it was a matter of time until DCL limited the amount of alcohol guests bring on board...they want that revenue! The good news is DCL reduced their corkage fee in dining rooms from $29 to $20 as part of the new policy, so at least there's that.
Does anyone else have any thoughts on these new policies?
