We have three home resorts and our planning usually begins over 11 months out, not necessarily for a holiday or event.
The next trip we initially imagined over a year ago is nowhere near the same as it at two weeks out!
We have been swayed with ticket offers, kids eat free promo on the dining plans, and with our first date based park tickets - changing park hours! While recovering from a recent injury, a scooter has entered the mix!

Home Resorts:
We have a couple of trips lined up. My wife and I are visiting in June with no kids. Initially we were staying at P.O.R., but then on Facebook I found a rental at Boulder Ridge. So I jumped on it because we are Copper Creek owners. So this June trip has changed a ton. Initially it was going to be an EPCOT and Hollywood Studios trip. Now we're only doing Magic Kingdom and then a day of DVC tours. So in the span of two months we went from staying at Port Orleans to possibly buying the Polynesian.
We also have a points stay at Copper Creek in November. Nothing has changed with that one. And probably won't.

SupporterSupporterI’ll modify up to a couple days before if the points match up. We did this in January for a two day trip when we were planned for OKW. A pool view studio popped up at BWV and I snagged it right away but had to add a couple point on for it.
