Started tours in 2006- so many spreadsheets/catalogues/materials. But, we moved 9x since then- so, it was never a good time. Finally rooted, know for sure we want 150 CC and 150 Poly- preferably Dec UY bc we can all travel in January (extended family).
We need 450-500 points to book a 2 bedroom lock off to fit our party of 8 adults and 2 grands- ages 3 and infant. Hoping Tower Poly might work- but updated CC should have added that extra murphy to give us 9+ infant.
So, if one contract looks like this:
50 2025, 150 2026, 150 2027
Another like this:
110 2025, 150 2026, 150 2027
And we close by September- how many points do I have available to book a January week trip?
Better to finance? With who?
We can take out new credit cards- will any let us pay with credit cards so we can get bonus miles? (We plan to pay off both contracts in under a year)
Our guide last week at CC said we qualified for $5100 off Poly- but read somewhere here that it was only existing members? We honestly dismissed direct bc our guide grew annoyed if we tried to clarify distinctions on resale - and he said it would take us 5 months to access points. Researched it after others pointed that was not right- so, now direct seems like a bad option.
Since I am looking for very specific contracts- are there sites to check out? I know about Fidelity/DVCforless or something and VacationFinder. Any others?
Thanks so much for clarifications!
Oh! More clarification!!
One contract has 140 banked from 2025, 150 available 12/1/26 and 150 12/1.27
So, would that mean I can only use the 140 banked to book for January?
I have used this dvc aggregator site to browse and filter resale contracts: https://dvc.market/listing/
As for financing, I was able to use multiple credit cards for sign-up bonuses when buying direct, but my resale contracts were all via bank wire. Not sure if others have had a different experience when buying resale.
We have (mostly) December UY for our contracts. If I’m understanding your posts correctly and the contracts you mention are December UY, then the banked 140 points from 2025 would need to be used by November 30, 2026. Your 2026 points would be effective for stays beginning December 1, 2026. You would have access to those points and could borrow from 2027 for a January 2027 trip (300 points total based on your last post).
December UY can sometimes be confusing because current-year points are mostly used for the next calendar year.

We bought resale first at Copper Creek when in a position to pay cash. If memory serves, we were able to pay $5000ish for the deposit on a credit card, so we did that for points and a little more flexibility. We just bought direct at Poly and used a Chase Disney card to collect some rewards and have 6 months free financing. On the new Inspire card, it was $500+ in rewards on the first payment that we could apply back to the balance. We intend to pay in full during that time. You get a little better price point as an existing member, it seems, so this is what worked for us. We could not justify it if we had to pay interest at all, but that’s just us.
We're in the process of purchasing resale at Poly right now. The title company dictates how much can be put on a credit card. We specifically told our broker we wanted to work with Mason Title - they allow up to $7500 on a credit card with no fee (anything above has a 3% processing fee). We opted to open a Wells Fargo Autograph Journey Card that gets 3x points on timeshares (and also $600 cashback reward for spending $4k within 3 months of opening the card).
What Owen said above about banked 2025 points is correct.

I love your strategy to maximize those points. Every bit counts!
Why would you think its better to finance? With DVC being a luxury non essential product, its not something for which I’d put myself in debt. Of course its great…but still.
