I just got back from a week in Alaska via the Disney Wonder. This was my second Disney Cruise. When I first boarded the Wonder, I was underwhelmed. The atrium is very small; however as the week progressed I loved how intimate it felt. I kept running into guests I'd seen before and I got to know the cast members really well.
I hadn't heard about Animator's Palette being great, but we loved it! Sorcerer Mickey comes out at the end of the meal. What a surprise!
We were on Deck 6, midship, starboard side and absolutely perfect. No rocking and beautiful views from the balcony.
We did the Gold Pan, Sled Dogs, and White Pass Railway in Skagway
Mendenhall Glacier and Salmon Bake in Juneau
Wildlife Expedition and Crab Feast in Ketchikan
I loved them ALL! Best cruise ever! I highly recommend.

We've done the Alaska Cruise on the Wonder four times plus the Vancouver to Honolulu cruise so were fairly familiar with that ship and we love it. I want my cruise ship to be a place of relaxation, I don't need it to be a floating amusement park.

I agree. I'm not sure I'll ever do a Royal ship again; however, I am on the DVC Fan one in July. That ship is HUGE! We will see what I think after just being on the Wonder.
I love the DVC Fan community so very much; thus, I would hang out with them in many arenas.

Curious what your first DCL was @Laura Gnewuch . I'm assuming Wish Class? Since you hadn't experienced Animator's Palette?
We've cruised the Magic 4 times, so I totally get why you started to appreciate the smaller ship. I also really love 2/3 of the restaurants on the Magic. Rapunzel's and Animator's Palette are two of my three fave DCL main dining rooms (1923 on Wish class being my 3rd).
We really hope to do the Wonder AK cruise soon.

So I have sailed the Wonder six times (four to Alaska) and while I love that ship, during last fall's Vancouver to Hawaii cruise we noticed for the first time that the ship seemed to be showing its age bit. Nothing big, just worn out furniture and some areas looking a little tired. I hope she has gotten or will get a good refit soon.

We sailed the Magic in March 2023 for the third time. We hit a big storm in the Gulf and water flooded the ship for an entire day. They closed everything on the pool deck (including dining). We were in a concierge room at the back of deck 8 (under Cabanas) and water was pouring into our room through the sliding glass door. It soaked the carpet, but they came to attend to it and put in dryers and we were able to stay in the room. A stateroom on the other side of the hall was not as lucky...the ceiling caved in and they had to move. It was CLEARLY in need of some upgrades, but I think it went into a longer drydock a couple months later.

Yes, my first DCL was on the Treasure. I loved the Treasure; however, I did fall in love with the Wonder too!
