So we booked a GTY rate for an upcoming cruise and while we appreciate that DCL can put us in any room, they have actually put us in a very obstructed room that although it has a balcony is obstructed both to the side and above. To make things even worse the facebook group is full of people who have booked later, paid the same and been given much better rooms. While DCL have been inarticulate when asked how exactly it was determined we got the dark and nasty room while others got extended verandas I really am looking for advice to see if there is anything we can do about this? DCL say ask at the port, has anyone had any success with doing this? and if so what is the best thing to say? Before people come at me, yes DCL can do this, I am just curious as to why people who booked later were given priority for better cabins - not my opinion, this is why DCL has different categories and some cost $$ more, they know not all veranda or oceanview etc rooms are equal. This may help with if/how we book GTY going forwards.
