hello! This is Carolyn, sister of Nicole. We bought into Grand Fla (we don’t like to say Grand Flo) in 2013 with 160 points. We increased points since then- Nik keeps track of how many we have. We are always on the hunt for a good deal with hopes that we could stay 1 week/month when Nik retires in 12 years.

we have Disney in our blood- our father worked at Disney World on opening day and I was there too as a 10 month old! My fave Disney memory - and there are multiple… We used our points to stay at Bay Lake Tower and took our dad to the 50th anniversary with a special “opening day cast member” shirt and people stop in line to take their picture with him. It made him feel so special. It was the best day ever, made even more special as he died the following year.

the attached pic is us with my dad and my daughter.

Hi Carolyn! 1 wk/month at GF sounds like an amazing goal! Do you know what type of work assignment your father had on opening day?

Love your account name. I was born in Gainesville, graduated from Gainesville High, then UF in 2013. Unfortunately work took us out of state after graduation.

I grew up in Panama City, Florida. I attended UF from 1984-1988, graduated with a degree in Statistics/Math, yet did Tech work for a good bit of my career. After college, I moved to Melbourne, Florida. I now reside in North Carolina.

Where in ND are you today? I visited there in 2024 for my 49th state.

We live in Minot. I'm surprised ND was your 49th state. Most people leave it for dead last. We like it here, but it is pretty dull and boring.

Yes, going to the Fargo visitor's center they told me if it was my 50th state...I'd get a t-shirt. I visited for 5 days. Traveled from Fargo to Teddy Roosevelt National Park -- I even saw the Medora Musical.

I enjoyed my time and thought the people were very friendly. My husband passed in 2023 and he made me promise to never stop exploring. He had some miles in his airline account, so I used them to travel to ND.

In May, I'll go on a Disney cruise to Alaska - my 50th.

What kind of work do you do living in ND?

Sounds like a great husband! North Dakota, despite the drawbacks, has lots of positives. It is a great place to raise a family. And I'm glad you got over to the Badlands. That is the prettiest part of the state.

I am a civilian employee of the US Air Force.

I enjoyed my visit. I didn't make it to Minot. I can see how it would be a great family place; however, the winters would be too brutal for me.

Ah, yes...makes sense the Air Force Base is in Minot. My father-in-law served 36 years in the Air Force, but was never stationed there.
