Hey everyone! We just found out we're expecting our third (yay!) in April 2027. Our strategy has always been to purchase two contracts for our two favorite resorts and let our daughters choose which one they wanted when they got older. Since we made the decision to have a third, I am at a crossroads. We don't necessarily need more points right now (1 bedrooms are currently our sweet spot), but with 3 kids, maybe that will change in the future.
The whole subject makes me curious -- has anyone began their DVC journey with multiple kids in mind?? Did you know from the start that you wanted to pass on your contract(s) and make decisions based on that? Or will there just be a tug-of-war between your kids when you pass? Would love to hear peoples' strategies (or lack thereof) when it comes to buying DVC with kids in mind. Thanks!!
I wish I had a strategy. We started our DVC journey with no kids (but hoped to have them). We bought 300 points in a single contract. We learned afterward that was not a best-practice (from DVC veterans) ๐
Then we added on 15 1/2 years later (after having two kids) and added another 300 points. So, at least they each have 300. But it wasn't really intentional. We've since bought more, and it'll be fairly easy to split between the two kids (4 total contracts).

We have two kids. When both of us pass away, the kids will each receive 50%. They can split the points, sell their half to the other, or sell it jointly on the resale market. I won't be here to care. ๐
