I thought people might like to ‘tell their stories’ of their Welcome Home stays
We bought during Covid. We’d always travelled from the UK and stayed off property in a holiday house. We’d always wanted to stay on property and Riviera was looking shiny and new. Given the lock downs during Covid we thought we’d go for it and stay at Riv for Christmas 2021 in a Grand Villa. Then we saw the price! We couldn’t justify that on a holiday. But for a little more we could buy DVC and had been looking at it for years. So we bought DVC in early 2021 with an Oct Use Year meaning we were actually had 2020 points. We banked them and booked that Grand Villa for that Christmas. We had 2 weeks in the top floor grand villa nearest the skyliner and have never looked back. We’ve been building memories with our 4 children year after year ever since (just not in Grand Villas!).

Bought in 2022 while visiting Aulani. February use year 200 points direct at Riviera without ever seeing the resort. Our welcome home was march of 2023 and spent spring break at jambo house and then took spent a week in October at Riviera in a 2bedroom with extended family. Have stayed everywhere but OKW saratoga and BLT. After visiting hilton head we bought 50 resale points there 2 years ago. We have thoroughly enjoyed being able to go a couple times of year to orlando
We bought a small Grand Cal contract in Summer of 2019. Our welcome home stay was scheduled for September of 2020. Yikes, that obviously didn't happen. When the resort closed down we rebooked for May 2021. Again, not happening. We ended up transferring some expiring points to RCI for a few nights in Branson, MO which is not too far from home. We finally got our welcome home stay in September of 2021: a week at Grand Cal in a studio and Disneyland. It's funny because that first studio stay and the way too competitive laundry room convinced us one-bedroom was the way to go, so we have since added on another contract.
