Hi everyone. My husband and I are hoping to reserve a cabin at Fort wilderness during early December. We both use electric convenience vehicles (ECVs). I’m of the opinion we would probably need both the ECV and to rent a golf cart while we’re there. I have to walk on a cane and don’t do steps well. So, are there cabins with handicapped ramps? If so, on the inside, do those have railings around the toilets? Also, do they have a step in shower or a roll in shower? For me, the rails around the toilet are optional, but I definitely don’t want to have to step over a bathtub. A step in shower is fine. I chatted with a DVC representative. However, when she told me that the cabins had bathtubs, I started wondering if she really knew what she was talking about. Can anybody who’s been there give me some advice.

There are both roll in shower rooms and tub rooms there are bars by toilet. You need to book them as accessible rooms to guarantee what you’ll get. Click the accessible box when you’re searching. I have had luck requesting their room with a ramp. For Dvc booking, there is only one cabin with the tub in one cabin with a shower that can be booked as accessible. The accessible cabins are longer and wider and have a bigger deck. Most are located in the 2800 loop but there are two cabins in the 2500 loop 2525,2524,2816,2818,2817,2819,2921,2822,2825,2868,2869,2870, the 2 cabins in 100 loop also lhave ramps but not sure if they are accessible. .
