Often times people will talk about rides that have gone away and been replaced. I thought I would start a tread about the events that we miss.

My wife and I were married in May of 2001 and spent our honeymoon at WDW. At the time, Disney had Start Wars Weekends over at MGM Studios. Prior to going we had no idea that it was even a thing, but as our first test of love, my wife waited "forever" in line with me to do meet and greets with Carrie Fischer and Peter Mayhew. We have framed signed movie pictures in our theater room as a mementos of the experience. In addition to the celebrity meet and greets, they had all sorts of other character meet and greets, special parades with the celebrities that were in for the weekend, and all sorts of other activities and merch for the event.

I know that we have special parties and after hours events, but it is the random events that everybody could enjoy, without a special ticket, that I miss.

Star Wars weekends were so fun!! They used to have Super Soap weekends too (soap operas). As a kid I really believed that the grand marshal of the parade could be any massive celebrity and was always so excited to check and see who it was (spoiler: I don't think it was ever someone I recognized as a kid). I miss the events associated with the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival most of all - the culinary demos, wine tastings, celebrity chef appearances, special restaurant meals like Tequila lunch, Parisian breakfast, Wine vs. Beer. I could go on and on. I'm truly somewhat astounded that in this era of the upcharge they haven't brought these back.

The nightly Tapestry of Nations back in the late 90s early 2000 at Epcot is still missed. It was so moving!

Back in maybe 2016 (?) Disney offered a monorail pub crawl. You had dedicated guides and started at the Wave. Had an appetizer and drink there, then a dedicated monorail car to Poly for a drink and another apply. Then to Grand Floridian to Citricos for a lovely dinner with wine pairings. Then back to Contemporary for the dedicated fireworks balcony with desserts, after dinner drinks, coffee, etc.

we are not huge drinkers but really enjoyed it. Met lots of nice people, good food, great Disney guides. Not inexpensive but not crazy price either as I recall. I know we can do it on our own but not the same. It was wonderful.
