I watched a video recently on a rumored 5th gate at Disney World - it is of course just a rumor, but they had a map showing where the park would go.

Here is my own version of that map using Google Maps - I tried to draw a box around it, but its kind of hard to see:

The rumor is that Josh D'amaro wants to make a big splash and so he will announce a 5th gate at WDW soon (maybe at D23?) with a timeframe of after Villains Land at Magic Kingdom, so 2035 or later?

The land is very close to Disney's All Star resorts and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Maybe a Skyliner could be built to connect Hollywood Studios, All Star Music and this park? It is very close to I4, but if anyone could do a good job hiding a major highway from sight and sound its Disney as they did this with Disneyland in Anaheim already.

The land covers about 900 acres, which would put it at a good size of land for a park. For comparison Animal Kingdom is around 500 acres, Epcot is around 300 acres. Some of that 900 acres would be used for parking and backlot areas, but even with that there is enough room for a theme park.

There was no source provided for this information, so definitely take it with a grain of salt.

What are some ideas for a theme park that Disney could build as its 5th gate and do you think this is a good location for it?

A few ideas that I have heard or thought of for a 5th gate:

  1. Pixar park - might not make sense since we have Cars coming to Magic Kingdom and a Toy Story Land in Hollywood Studios plus Monstropolis coming to Hollywood Studios, but you could build a Cars Land, a Toy Story Land, Incredibles Land, Finding Nemo/Dory land, Inside Out Land?

  2. A copy of sorts of DisneySea - something similar to Tokyo DisneySea, with themed lands around different seas of the world.

  3. Pay Universal for the rights to Marvel and build a Superhero park, different themed lands for Spiderman, X-Men, Avengers, etc

  4. An Epic Universe like park with 4 or 5 IP themed lands. You could do Star Wars in one, Marvel (if you pay off Universal) in one, maybe Disney Princesses in another?

Would love to hear your thoughts on what you'd like to see in a 5th gate at Disnye World.

I love the idea of a new park. I'm not one that's a fan of one idea for a whole park, even though Pixar is probably a really good idea for this, since the IP is so varied. I like a park to have "something for everyone", which is why I always push back on a full Star Wars or Marvel park. Some people, it just isn't their jam. Pixar could work really well.

See you in the parks!

I saw this as well and thought the land in question seemed like a good possible location for a park. It would be possible to extend the Skyliner from the Animation/POP station that sits to the north of this area as well as link the All Stars to the Skyliner. As for what they would put in this park if true, who knows. But hope it's a mix of IP and not a dedicated IP park. I highly doubt WDW would put all their eggs in one basket and do a fully dedicated park to one specific IP IE. Pixar or theme IE. Superhero.

It would seem that the new Villains land would have been better served as a land in a new park instead of being shoehorned into MK as they seem to be doing now. This makes me question this rumor.

We so need a 5th gate. They keep building hotels with nowhere else for them to spend their days. Yes, theres a lot of things to do at the resorts and outside the parks but we need another park. Its been too long and too many people with all these hotels.

It would be great to have something really new and exciting to compete with Epic Universe as well.

Love the idea of a 5th park. My hope is for Disney to do something else with the expansion at MK and make a whole Villains theme park.

There's a huge chunk of land across from the MK parking lot that's on the other side of the monorail and theres also another across from the Epcot enterance. That could be a location for it, especially once Lakeshore Lodge opens and then how challenging the cabins have been to sell this could be an appealing approach to try and sell those on the backs of a new gate location.

Also, do we really need 2 water parks?

With how far they’ve gone I’m not sure it’s possible, but this is 100 percent the right way to go. A full villains park gives the so much flexibility and possible directions. I’d even be ok if they scrapped the new MK land and added to Epcot instead. I feel like Epcot needs attractions more.

There is actually an approval with the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (Formerly Reedy Creek) to build a 3rd water park in the current land use plan. It doesn't mean they will build a 3rd, but the possibility is open for a 3rd.

I would definitely love to see an announcement sometime soon about a 5th gate. Especially since I am getting older and I would love to see it happen within my lifetime LOL

A fifth gate is key to Disney’s long term growth and visitor satisfaction. Wait times are so much higher today compared to ten years ago, and guests shouldn’t have to pay for costly premier passes in order to enjoy a full array of attractions. Another park will disperse crowds and help DVC attract new buyers to resorts.

A park that showcases popular IP (Stitch ride, Moana ride, etc.) would maintain variety, appeal and give Disney the ability to make changes in future.
