Unpopular DVC Opinions
People unfortunately do trash the rooms. Looking at the 1 and 2BRs at Riviera that have that weird lock. People can't seem to figure them out so they end yanking the door with it still locked to the point where it has stripped out the strike plate. I had maintenance try and drill it back into the door and it still didn
Thoughts on buying direct, but not the 150 points necessary for Membership Extras?
It's not a bad idea particularly if there's somewhere you were already planning on buying that needs home resort priority and is hard to find in your use year. Sometimes it's worth it to just pay for the premium for direct over waiting for a resale in your use year. Plus like you said this would let you scope out poten
Annual Passes or No?
We use a sorcerer pass as were locals and go every week. When were blocked out during the holidays we use our Universal pass but since this is our last full year in Florida we wont be renewing our Universal passes as dont go regularly enough. Going forward we will probably be here twice a year so its debatable if the p
V.I.Passholder Days are back for 2026... thoughts?
Found out the hard way that the mint tea they serve at the passholder lounge is not the same as the one they serve at Spice Road 😭
V.I.Passholder Days are back for 2026... thoughts?
Didn't they give out free mint tea one of the years for the passholder lounge? That would convince me 1000% to go to that lounge instead of the DVC lounge but without it I'm not really interested. But yeah, agreed on the dining discounts being for the full week. They probably don't want us locals going on the weekends
Unpopular DVC Opinions
My unpopular DVC opinion as I've made aware on other forums for anyone who knows me is we hate OKW. The only thing we like about it is the size of the rooms and I'm grateful to it for starting DVC. Otherwise though, the rooms are dated, the studio layout is awkward and it's unclear if they'll ever get or if it's even p
Bought Sight Unseen
Bought direct at Riviera site unseen for 150 points.. it was between that and Grand Floridian but we knew we wanted to hold out for Poly as it's more our vibe but we stayed at RIV and then added another 185 a year and a half later
Addonitis- where will you add on next?
I think we're finally done. Recently added Poly to the portfolio. Something that I envision potentially happening though is either adding Poly resale down the line or BLT resale and selling off AKV in exchange. Aside from that, it'd take Yacht Club to be converted to DVC or it's 2042 and Beach Club and Boardwalk have b
Benefit of buying DVC resale before buying direct, other than the cost savings?
You will get a better discount on your future direct purchase if you purchase resale first. The upside too is you get to pick your use year when you go resale and when you go to buy direct they will match the use year you bought resale. Compare this to buying direct first and then being limited in which resale contract
Riviera Owners Thread
You have good taste, just need to add Aulani to that list :P
Already for 2042
As above, the beach properties will be sold off, the dues are just too high and will take forever to sell. The reason why there are VB subsidized dues contracts is because they had a hard time selling it and decided to not make the second phase of VB likely because of how hard it was for them to sell. It's an unfortuna
On the fence about DVC resale...
Putting yourself in financial stress is never worth it for a vacation, if resale is what you can do comfortably, then for sure go resale. It's not like direct won't be waiting for you if finances and life allows.
Welcome to DVC Fan Forums!
Was this from earlier this year? When the fountains were frozen at WDW that was crazy! Pretty much all of the vegetation in our community died during that time
Welcome to DVC Fan Forums!
Aw thanks :) We took photos on 3 separate days early in the morning. One for the wedding, another at MK and finally another at Epcot. Waking up at 3am at the latest each time to get ready.. not fun but doing the actual photos was fun. The second photo up there was from our wedding reception as we had our private first
Welcome to DVC Fan Forums!
Hello from the Magic Kingdom! We're locals and I drive past Disney World everyday and have been here for the past few years but before long we'll be heading back home to socal and Disneyland will once again become our go to park. We have a strong preference for Disney World but at bare minimum it will make the trek to
On the fence about DVC resale...
True, if you think it's just a one time thing or something that you'll want to try a new resort you probably are better off renting the one time.
