We stayed at BCV this past March, and that outdoor movie setup is pretty cool - right on the beach! And the view across Crescent Lake… Although we did walk past BWV at night and that is a great movie setup as well.
+1 on resort days. Kids love making tie-dye shirts and other crafty things. If we want a change of scenery we’ll hop on the bus to HS and ride the Skyliner or to MK and ride the boats to walk around other resorts. Pin trading - always make time to check out a pin board. Booking a handicap accessible room puts you close to the lobby. If those are unavailable, I’d suggest requesting a room near the bus stop, or, if you will have a car, you can just park near the closest elevator to your room to minimize the walking distance no matter where the room is.
IMO most of the eligible member benefits are not worth the premium. The one benefit I would value the most is the ability to use the points at any resort, and there’s no minimum point threshold for that.

Ranking DVC resorts where I’ve stayed: Animal Kingdom Lodge - coffee with the animals each morning. Old Key West - relaxing on the balcony overlooking the fairways and landscaping. Disneyland Hotel - nostalgia everywhere, beautiful gardens. Vero Beach - watching sea turtles nest on the beach. Beach Club - awesome pool
I’m contemplating the same question for future WDW stays. We were always Magical Express fans too. I think once our kids are out of the booster seat phase we’ll rent a car so that we can more easily do things outside the bubble like Universal & KSC. I would still use bus transportation while inside WDW.
Our last OKW stay was near the end of Peninsular Rd (about as far from Hospitality House as you can get). I remember it being about a 10 min walk with kids. Google Maps says 12 min. It was cooler weather so we didn’t mind.
They do not. If I’m not mistaken, the only DVC villas with ceiling fans outside are at OKW (1BV and up). And those balconies are spacious - one of the highlights of staying there.
