To rent a car, or not to rent a car, that is the question!
While I have always stayed in the Disney bubble and have used Disney transportation/ride shares (RIP magical express), now that we’re DVC owners, my wife and I are considering renting a car for our stays.
What are the pros and cons of renting a car for your Disney stay? Do you rent a car? If so, why?
Do you rent a car while staying at a WDW resort?

I’m contemplating the same question for future WDW stays. We were always Magical Express fans too. I think once our kids are out of the booster seat phase we’ll rent a car so that we can more easily do things outside the bubble like Universal & KSC. I would still use bus transportation while inside WDW.
Post Magical Express we (family of 4) tried Mears Connect and private transfers. While we enjoyed the private transfers the price started to raise to a point that it became worth it to us just to rent a car. Besides price there are a some other convenience. No waiting for a bus/ride at the airport. We can stop for groceries on our way to the resort (and it’s easy to run back out for anything we forgot). Even though we prefer Disney transportation (to remain in the bubble) there are times that it’s easier just to drive ourselves to the parks. And once our trip is over I find it more convenient to drive ourselves back to the airport (leave on our schedule and can usually squeeze in a little extra time). And for whatever it’s worth I’ve found that Costco Travel usually has the cheapest rental rates (assuming you’re a member).
