What’s the “temperature” out there for Cabins at FW resales?

I know the resale restrictions, high dues, large campus and rather niche targeted clientele keeps them off a lot of folks short list. I’m wondering when the lodge is completed, and how Disney structures the relationship with the cabins, whether it will sweeten the deal. I haven’t seen resales popping on the website, but it might be that they are there and gone in a flash.

Yep, I made the brilliant move to sell my original 150 pt OKW contact a couple of decades ago….ugh

Have you stayed in one? We had considered getting one for a hot minute b/c the price per point was good with the direct incentives and it would hold 6. We ended up moving away from it b/c we aren't a "camping" family and the golf cart might take away from our travel comforts and it does hold 6 but two of those would be for younger kids. Our youngest are 8 and 10 but they'll grow out of it soon.

I also haven't seen many come up on the DVC website when I'm looking at quick trips. I'm guessing the people that love them keep them.

I used to stay in the Fort Wilderness cabins about three times a year (spring, fall, and winter—because let’s be honest, Disney in the summer is rough lol).

I really miss the old cabins. I have a strong emotional connection to that location, and I later found out some of the original cabins were sold off or are being rented as Airbnbs now, so that at least helps fill that gap a bit.

I know I’m probably in the minority, but I actually hope Disney will keep Lakeshore Lodge and the Fort Wilderness cabins as completely separate concepts.

There’s something really special about Fort Wilderness—the campsite decorations, the individuality of each cabin, riding around in a golf cart, watching fireworks from the beach. It has a charm that feels very different from the rest of Disney property.

Because of that, I was pretty disappointed when the cabins were converted into a DVC property. And now it seems like Disney may be struggling to sell those contracts, especially considering the cabins are currently getting some of the highest direct incentives.

Personally, I wouldn’t buy the cabins direct unless the incentives became extremely compelling. For me, the value just isn’t there—especially with only one room type available at Fort Wilderness. I’d be much more interested at the right resale price point.

They book up pretty consistently at exactly 7 months. The demand seems to be good to stay there I am sure in large part to the reasonable points chart for an almost 1 bedroom. If they had raised the point chart by 1 per night or 5 per week it would have been a home run with a washer and dryer and king sized bed in the bedroom. DVC was trying to protect their other 1 bedrooms by giving it less accommodations as a step down. We are staying there 3 nights as part of a split stay coming up because more than about 3 day without a washer and dryer is too much for our family of 5. We have stayed at the fort before with our large 5th wheel camper but we hit Disney so hard on that being our first trip we didn’t get to enjoy the fort and didn’t even use the pool. That will change this time with us being annual pass holders with a lot of DVC coming multiple times per year.

All good points. I sold my 5th wheel several years ago, so just like being able to return to the place of so many good memories

hard to get into them for more than a night here or a night there if you don't own them...

resale is tough to find just because they haven't had enough direct sales go through...

as such, the resale price has been higher than I would have predicted for a rather niche offering...
