Strategy for maximizing discounts before a direct purchase

My family is planning to become new members soon with a resale purchase first, then hopefully a direct 150 point contract (maybe Polynesian) because of FOMO. I posted another thread seeking advice on the best entity structure to hold the ownership.

I love the idea of resale but I'm just in to direct for the blue card and to preserve the ability to use at any of the newer and future resorts. I've done lots of research but it's still overwhelming. I want to make sure I plan and take advantage of any available discounts when the time comes for the direct purchase. I appreciate any guidance!

We plan to purchase resale first (leaning toward SSR, CC, or BLT) so that we start with some cheaper points and to get the discount on direct for being members when we do purchase direct, hoping that benefit will still be available when we take the plunge. Disney seems to be tightening things up which makes contracts worth less, so I would love to get this done soon before the minimum point ownership for benefits is increased soon and other restrictions are put in place.

What else should I do to make the best of discounts on direct. I've read that use of certain credit card(s) (Disney Chase Visa?) may give discounts, and charging on them can help if paid off quickly. Thanks in advance for recommendations and any other tips.
