Disney Wonder - ALASKA!

ALASKA IS THE BEST! Will this be your first time in Alaska? What is the itinerary?

Yes ma'am! A first to Alaska and my 50th state! I'm beyond excited. We start in Vancouver, Skagway, and Ketchikan with also a day of glacier viewing. We have some great excursions booked...one of them with the sled dogs. This was a must for me!

I really want to do Denali and the interior, but I asked my son what he'd prefer and he said a cruise. There is nothing saying we can't go back, right?

This will be my 2nd Disney cruise. Normally, my son and I are RC cruisers. Who says you can't do both?

The cruise will be amazing. And 50th state! How impressive. Skagway and Ketchikan are both great and you'll love Glacier day. Can't wait to hear all about it. Alaska is our favorite place to travel!

I've seen all your pictures and the ones with your mom really tugged on my heartstrings!

When you mentioned last night about a push pin map...I have one! I have so many travels on my bucket list. Alaska was a huge one!

I'll be posting in the Travel Journal a lot this summer. Future trips to Spain and the UK, the DVC Fan cruise and a few Disney trips. :-)

We went to Alaska on the Wonder last August. You’ll have an amazing time!! It’s the best vacation our family has ever taken. 🙂

So excited for you, Laura! We sailed to Alaska on the Wonder in May 2022. My fav itinerary to date. So unique and beautiful. You will have a fantastic time. ❤️

Also way to go on 50 states! One of my goals. I have a bit to go - 36 visited so far.

I belong to a philanthropic organization that has taken me to several and a son that is a nationally ranked fencer that has taken me to many too.

I'm not sure I would have ever chosen Kansas or Oklahoma to visit on my own.

I'm beyond excited! We are going in mid-May so not sure what to expect. We have several excursions planned that I'm looking forward to. What excursions did you do? Do you have any recommendations on shows or events on the ship?

Once getting to Alaska, it'll be all 50 states. In June, I'll be heading to Barcelona Spain. In September, I have a trip booked to the UK - Scotland, England, and Wales. Of course the DVC Fan cruise and a Disney stay in October.

We booked a cruise to Alaska on the Disney Wonder for May 2027. 398 days and counting down!

I'm going May 2026. I'll post a report when we get back. I planned mine a 1 1/2 ago. :-)

I got to check-in for the cruise last night. 31 days before we fly to Vancouver! What excursions have you done?

Salmon Fishing because my son loves to fish (they will process your catch and ship it home too). Kayaking at Icy Strait Point (not sure if you are going there). Whale Watch cruises are always a winner although you will see plenty of whales from the ship. In Skagway in 2018 we did a fun tour where we took the train up Dead Horse Pass back into British Columbia and then biked down back into Skagway. That was a lot of fun.

What ports are you hitting?

We went on the Wonder to Alaska in 2024 and want to go back! Absolutely beautiful and majestic!

We did the White Pass Railway in Skagway and it was cool! You mentioned you wanted to see Yukon. I believe there are options to allow you to see some of Yukon on that excursion. You can at least get a glimpse.

Im planning on booking an Alaska cruise in the next few weeks. We will be doing an inside room for the first time after doing only verandah rooms. Whats the difference between these rooms and which is the best? Horizontal or vertical vs the ones kind of alone on the right side? Family of 2 adults and a 3 year old at time of sailing. Thanks!

Wow, we are going to Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan....and glacier viewing. I'm doing the sled dogs and railway excursion, the wildlife & crabfeast, and glacier and salmon bake. Your excursions sound amazing. I might have to do it again with different excursions!
