Are you worried about DVC new rules for Renting?

I think you're still golden in the commercial use definition DVC has set out: 20 non-member reservation within 12 months.

I'm not worried yet when it comes to my personal rentals, but I do worry that the feedback over the current rental restrictions will incentivize them to increase restrictions on usage in the future. We purchased our contract so we would take a trip every other year and had planned on renting the points on the years we do not go. There may be a case where we borrow or bank for a larger trip, but it's just not how we envisioned our vacations. I can't imagine we are the only people who rely on this style of ownership. Who knows if they're going to introduce a minimum personal bookings required or set other yearly restrictions.

Is the 20 per year documented somewhere?

Is there also a percentage of owned points being rented out, ie if you continually rent out over 50% of your points a thing?

Nope, we bought DVC to use for us. Occasionally I’d rent points if it was going to waste.

I have rented out twice, so not worried at all.

I have mixed feelings about this all. There have been 2 occasions when I decided on a spur of the moment trip and 1) did not have points and 2) there would be no availability even if I did. I was able to find a confirmed reservation for the exact dates on both occasions, so I was quite pleased. However, there have also been times when I have tried to book a reservation at the 11 month mark and unable to do so, only to see confirmed reservations for rent. On the whole, this new rule is probably a good thing though.

DVCFan had an article about this at the end of March when the new rental policy was announced. I'm sure it was added into some file that's under the ownership docs, but I heard about it here first.
