How Many Days…

93 days! (or 88 days until we fly out) Staying at PVB in Moorea (lake view) First big trip for my daughter- first flight, first time seeing the Gulf, first haircut, first time at Disney. I'm very excited to have a relaxed trip and see WDW through her eyes.

Annual Dues/Mousekeeping

Not sure if it's just confirmation bias, but I've found that the room tends to be cleaned a little better when I tip at any hotel. I don't treat our stays at DVC any different than any other hotel since either way you're still paying for housekeeping, wether it be through dues or baked into the price per night. I usual

What's Your Use Year?

I just look at the current year and subtract a whole year in my head (which isn't exactly accurate, but close enough for when I'm booking.) I would find it more confusing to have a UY in the middle of the year. Like it's last years points until August??? I do agree with you about the DVC Fan show! I would love an updat

Polynesian Villas Owners Thread

If it helps, the Touring Plans room finder does have have a number of images of the views from the Tower. I always felt like the resort view is luck of the draw. Some views will be better than expected, and some of them will be flat out bad- but it's the tradeoff with booking the cheaper view. Maybe make a request via

What's Your Use Year?

December! There are so many reasons we chose it. While we can travel any time right now, we will be mostly visiting in the spring once our daughter starts school. December is one of the most popular use years, which means resale contracts in the same UY are more common. If we ever need to rent points, Christmas, NYE, a

Do you still use a magic band?

Yes! I never got into smart watches, but having something on you wrist beats having to dig out a physical card to open your room or enter the park. I can see them phasing them out eventually (like they did with paper fastpasses.) It will definitely stink for those of us luddites that are not immediately equipped with s

What is your hidden gem restaurant at Disney?

I think the all the lounges around WDW are definitely hidden gems. Most people are so focused on getting an ADR or eating at the quick service places that they don't realize that the lounges have more than just drinks. My personal favorite is the Nomad lounge next to Tiffins, but I do love the Tambu lounge outside of O

DVCFan Community DVC Point Stats!

This year I was able to book a week perfectly at 150 points. However, my next use year is not evenly split and I'm banking 5 points. It really depends on what you book and when. I can see if people always vacation in the resort on the same week that they could definitely always have a "clean plate" if you will.

DVCFan Community DVC Point Stats!

150 Poly direct here, but we visit every other year so I'm not surprised that most people are in the 200-400 range if they go yearly. We're also staying in studios, but I can definitely see us buying a resale contract down the road when our toddler becomes a teen. Gotta give the older kids some room to be moody. 😜

Are you worried about DVC new rules for Renting?

I think you're still golden in the commercial use definition DVC has set out: 20 non-member reservation within 12 months. I'm not worried yet when it comes to my personal rentals, but I do worry that the feedback over the current rental restrictions will incentivize them to increase restrictions on usage in the future.

Trip Reports

Upcoming 2026 Trips (Disney and Other)

In September we're doing a split Tampa and Disney trip. It'll be our daughter's first trip to Disney! It's also our first trip as DVC members. We booked a lake view to ensure we get Moorea at the Poly- hoping for a great fireworks view. We've been keeping the travel local because this September trip is really to gauge

No more room requests effective 4-19 !

For those who used to use the TP room request, did you find it any more reliable than MS? I used the TP room request feature back when making cash stays in the 2010s, but I'm a new DVC member and was hoping that chatting or calling MS would yield similar results. Not looking for a specific room, just want a better opti

Will resale restrictions ever be reversed?

I agree with this! I know we personally decided to go direct because the difference between direct and resale PVB was only a few thousand. That gap can be easily recovered in the current perks offered, especially if the buyer is an out of state annual passholder. Keeping the resale value high also encourages people who
