Banking and Borrowing points from a cancelled reservation

I currently have a reservation for 4 nights this December. This reservation used the last 46 of my 2026 points and 12 borrowed 2027 points. My son and his GF are considering joining us for this trip, but they are not yet certain about their plans. If I were to book another room for them, I would need to borrow more 2027 points.

I know that once borrowed, those 2027 points stay in the 2026 use year and can't be banked back into 2027, but, if they decided not to come and their reservation was cancelled, could member services replace the 2026 points I'm using for my original reservation with the borrowed points and free up those 2026 points so I could bank them?

This trip would take place before my banking deadline.
