What does everyone think about Old Kew West v Saratoga Springs? I've stayed at SSR multiple times now but haven't had a chance to try out OKW. Thinking I'll go that route to check another resort off the list but figured I'd check in with this group first!

OKW 1 bedroom and higher is our preference…there’s just SO MUCH room in those villas. The SSR studios is what I pick if we’re staying at a studio. They’re just more updated over OKW studios IMHO. Maybe that’ll change once OKW gets updated 🤷🏻‍♀️

Okay, we’ve done a studio and a two bedroom at both. We did a big family trip for the two bedrooms. OKW in 2022 and Saratoga in 2026. Every single person in our group of 10 preferred Saratoga.

I think the vibe of OKW is awesome, but the rooms are dated, especially the studio and having no elevators was an issue for us with strollers.

Saratoga has better pools in my opinion they are some of the best on property. We are BIG pool people and we we love that there are bars at most the pool for a drink.

Saratogas quick service isn’t great but it has a lot more options than OKW.

We’ve only stayed in the one bedrooms of each, in fact, just staying at Saratoga this past weekend for the first time. We all agree that we prefer OKW way more, especially in the one bedrooms where the size difference is absolutely noticeable.

Like you, we do wish OKW had elevators in every building and had multiple entrances to the bathroom (which actually does exist in the one bedroom lock off), but other than that, we will pick OKW over Saratoga because we also prefer it’s vibe.

Also agree that OKW is in a dire need of hard goods refurbishment including Murphy beds, etc.

Thanks - super helpful! I should have also noted that this is going to be primarily a Universal trip - we're mostly Disney people but did one Universal trip way back when the Wizarding World was relatively new. Haven't been since they expanded that with the park to park train ride or Epic universe.

I am a little concerned about the need for a refurb - at the same time I'm trying to hit every DVC theme park resort at least once so we're going with an OKW 1-BR. Just going for 4 nights so I think it's worth a try. That will leave just Wilderness lodge, Grand Floridian, Boardwalk, and the Cabins on the list to try out at World and Disneyland hotel at DL.

We always stay in a studio and much prefer SSR. The OKW studios layout is just cramped. We also prefer to be on a higher floor and most of OKW does not have elevators. That is a no go for us as we are older and have a wheelchair I occasionally need.

We also much prefer the QS options at SSR, you are able to eat inside at Artist Palette and the Paddock Grill is a hidden gem.

We DO love Olivia’s and will make the trip to OKW for that.

SSR also enables us to walk to Disney Springs, though both resorts also offer boat service.

We do enjoy the vibe of OKW be8ng the first DVC resort, it carries through the Hospitality house even.

SSR is our home resort but we love the extra room at OKW. When we bring all three of our grown children we like staying there. If it’s just the two of us and we want a studio we prefer SSR. We’ve stayed at OKW more than any other resort, but I have no desire to stay in a studio at there. It just feels like a hotel room. The one and two bedrooms are massive though!
