Disney's Vero Beach Resort Owners Thread
Since Derek DeBoer hasn't started a Vero thread, thought that I would! 'Charter Member' of Vero Beach. Actually joined when still under construction.
Let's hear from other owners, and visitors! What's on your mind?
I was looking for a Vero thread under Non-Theme Park resorts! Haven't visited Vero yet but it's on my list. I love a "do nothing" beach vacation! Favorite time of year to visit? Favorite local restaurants to try? Any tips are welcome!

I’m here now. No Derek D here now. He must be selling contracts.
Anyways , own at VB. Sad to see Tino is no longer here. He was always a good memory of trips. Very helpful when we rented kayaks.
Disney thinks I'm a sucker for how many times I've bought one time use points.

I’m here now. We love April. Also have been in the summer. That can be very hot. But you always have the oceans. Summer seems to be worse for the no see ums. Those little buggers hurt.
Resort food is decent. But we defintely venture off one or two times. We love going into Vero Beach (about 15 minutes south of resort ) and walking around town. Facorite place to eat is El Sid’s Taqueria. Great food. Plus their ice cream and slushes are delicious. Orange juice slushy is great ; even better when added to vanilla soft serve.
We also go north into Sebastian and eat at Squid Lips. It’s an open air restaurant over the water. And after you can go on the dock and feed the catfish that swim up to the dock. A quick option from the resort right down the street is Beach Bites. They have great sandwiches.
Also check out the Environmental Learning Center minutes from the resort. Many parks , beaches and even art museum right in the town of Vero Beach.

Maybe it should be moved to the Non-Theme Park section? I didn't think about that when I created the thread. It's a little gray area, you get free parking at the parks, (member staying on points), and you qualify for midnight magic early registration, if you have a villa booked.

I didn't know about the parks parking or the Midnight Magic. Very cool!

I'm here! Sorry was helping folks learn about the wonderful world of used magical timeshare and SO excited to see a Vero thread started! Truly my fave - I can't imagine hoenstly how different my vacation & family memories would be over the last 20 years without Vero as a part of our lives! We just did a GREAT 3 night Dec trip and I can't wait to go back (I need more points....where can I get those ;) - keep up the love for Vero - I so love when folks tell me that they went to Vero for the first time after hearing me talk about it for so many years and how much THEY in turn loved it!

Hey Derek. Just arrived home from Vero. Love the resort and love exploring the area too. This was our 4th trip there. Actually convinced our kids to do a bike ride this time and play some tennis.
Hopefully I’ll run into you sometime at Vero or a park so you can explain to my wife how adding some points is a “no-brainer “.
Keep up the good work.

LOVE that you had such a great time! And it's true...the best Disney memories I have with my boys isn't riding rides at the parks....it's doing things like that at Vero! Pool, Beach, mini golf (at least 10x per trip), shuffleboard, bikes, etc. So glad you had another amazing time and YES hopefully our paths will cross at Vero or the parks! I always am lucky to run into DVC Fan folks when I'm at Vero which is awesome :) - hope to see YOU soon my friend!

I'll be at Vero in 5 days, after a quick trip to Disney World. I've been many times as a kid since my parents were DVC since the early 2000s, but this will be my own children's first time to VB, and we got one of the Cottages for the week! Hoping for beautiful weather and fun activities. My wife and I went down for a quick stay two years ago when we purchased our own DVC and she fell in love with the relaxing atmosphere. We're hoping to make VB an annual trip!
Vero is my fav and is the place I'm thinking about making as my home base. How hard is it to book at 7th month mark? Also annual dues seem to be the most costly. Thoughts?

7 month can be hard at certain times per year. You might be limited by number of days in a row available, room type etc.
Annual dues are higher but initial buy in is very low. I lucked out and got a subsidized contract when I was stalking resale. So my dues are more reasonable. I love it there and would be happy only using my points there. But I have used my Vero contract many times at WDW.

It's def my fav resort and I think it will most likely be my home base as I really want first dibs. I'm going may 2-6 and it was really tough finding a room as a non-dvc member. Hopefully this fall I'll be contact The Derek for a resell contract.
We Love VERO but I ALWAYS get bitten to pieces. Any tips on best times to stay or what to use to prevent bites?

Hi everyone. I've got a quick question hoping someone can help with. I just got back from 5 days at VBR with the family and we absolutely loved it! My son is already talking about going back and I was thinking about taking a trip early January to get out of the cold here in CT. Obviously it won't be as hot and sunny in Florida in January as it was in April, but does anyone have any experience going in January? We are primarily pool people (not beach), but would it be too cold to swim? Will it be pleasant enough to still enjoy the pool and activities?
I have been there in January and the daytime high was in the forties, and been there and it's in the eighties. You never know.

Summer always is the worst for that for sure. I was just there 2 weeks ago and it wasnt bad. Ive been twice in the summer and I agree , was eaten up. Weve tried various sprays etc but doesnt seem to work /last. Certainly habe to reapply throughout the day
