Moonlight Magic Summer 2026 Discussion Thread

I got my tickets for Typhoon Lagoon on August 4. Got in about 11:30 and was registered by 11:32

So dissappointed didnt get tickets for EPCOT MM after joining early and waiting in queue for 35mins! I was under impression it was rare to have an event sell out at early registration, just gutted, we from uk and only 2 of us and so rare that an event would be on at a time of our visit 😔🤦‍♀️. From what I've read not holding out much hope for general registration but will try !

Is there a waitlist of some kind when Disney will know members who where unsuccessful, and would people actually cancel or reduce their guest numbers if couldnt go, giving those unsuccessful members a chance, although how would we kniw tickets beome available ?

Extremely disappointed. Waited in queue for almost an hour to find out the 7/20 HS event was at capacity. I will try again during Gen Reg, but don't have a good feeling.

Sorry to hear. Moonlight Magic registration is essentially a lottery and there isn't really anything you can do to better your chances of registering. Everybody gets the same chance and your spot is randomly assigned at 11am Eastern when the queue officially opens.

The events almost always sells out during early registration and every single time there are disappointed people.

DVC really should not advertise this as a benefit of direct ownership, really they should say that you have the chance of attending Moonlight Magic and as they continue to add more DVC members it will only get harder to attend Moonlight Magic since there will be more owners competing for the same spots and the parks aren't really expanding to support more people in them.

You should definitely try for General registration but it is harder to get in because there are less spots and more people trying.

There isn't a waitlist unfortunately, even if people cancel DVC does not open those spots back up.

So, I'm traveling August 2nd to 7th with a party of 10. My wife and I are DVC members with the same membership number. We have a 2 bedroom for 9 booked with points and a second room for 1 booked with cash at the campgrounds that is reserved in my wife's name.

I was lucky enough to register this morning for the August 4th Typhoon Lagoon MM with the party of 9. I'm fully prepared to take one for the team and send the rest of the family while I stay back. :-(

I've seen some comments that cash stays are eligible to register for MM as well. I didn't even think to try entering 10 when it asked for a quantity. Would that have worked, given our two reservations?

And will I still have an opportunity to snag one more ticket during general registration even though I was already able to get some? Or will the system not let me try again next week?

Cash stays no longer qualify (as of 2024) for Moonlight Magic registration UNLESS they were booked through DVC Member Services and you can only book DVC Villas when you book through DVC Member Services.

So you wouldn't have been able to register 10 people.

If you only have 1 membership number then you cannot try again for General registration as you are already registered. Even if you did try again, it might replace your original registration since its under the same membership number.

If you're only looking for 1 more person, you might try to see if someone has an extra "ticket" to Moonlight Magic on our Facebook group or forums or even show up day of and see if any families have an extra one.

Got in for the Aug 20 event at typhoon lag. Was on at the start. About 30 mins in my screen updated the EP and HS was gone, so didnt have alot of hope. Luckily, at just shy of an hour, my lottery spot hit. A bit of luck for sure. I thought Paul and Amy did this event. Ill have to go find the video to know what to expect.

Thanks for the General Registration link. Its frustrating that its not emailed out like the early registration links were.

Like many other people, I waited in the early registration cue hoping to get in only to be be super disappointed so I'll hope against hope for a better outcome later today!

When it opened at 11am this morning I got hopeful because I only had an 11 minute wait and it still capped 2 minutes before my time came up. There has to be a better way for Disney to offer these tickets.

I'm sorry you weren't able to register for MLM, particularly since you already have a DVC reservation for those dates. I was shut out last summer as well, even though I had a DVC reservation. I really wish DVC would prioritize members with reservations more heavily, allowing open registration only after all members with existing reservations have had an opportunity to secure tickets.

I feel like that would be fair even though some fellow locals may not agree.

For sure, I understand why local members may push back on reservation-based priority. But because MLM is a DVC event, it seems reasonable to give the strongest priority to members using their membership for a DVC resort stay during the event dates. After all, local members are not excluded from that opportunity.

Great post, @Ryan C! You had me at “add more MLM events, 😂. Your table highlighting the number of events each year is complelling. Anecdotally, we’ve had good luck with the “pop up” MLM events, so hope those continue moving forward. I also agree with each of your points. Paywalling MLM events doesn’t seem like a fair alternative.

That said, I do think there is merit to requiring a DVC reservation, or at least accommodating those guests before the general registrarion, for the points I mentioned in my previous post. We were fortunate to get in to the July HS event and hope to see many of our forum members there!
