Addonitis- where will you add on next?
We currently own at Riviera and Boardwalk but are tossing around the idea of another contract. We are leaning towards Grand Floridian for the following reasons:
It was our first on property stay and will always own a piece of our hearts for that reason
We loved the studios at Big Pine Key for the proximity to the quiet pool and the lobby/QS
We love split stays with half on the skyliner and half on the monorail
Ease of resort hopping to Poly, Wilderness Lodge, and Contemporary
Itโs the Grand ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Where is your next add on?

We own at SSR (Disney Springs area resort) BWV ( Epcot area resort) AKL (Animal Kingdom resort area) see where I am going? ๐คฃit definitely was not on purpose we got one from each area but since we did:) weโd love a MK resort Area DVC. So GF for sure, itโs hubbys favorite resort

We own at GFV and had no idea there was a "quiet" pool, I feel like they are both loud ๐คฃ.
Its such a great resort with MK access by boat, monorail or even walking.
Currently we own at GFV and AKL, I think we may add on when Lakeshore Lodge starts selling.

You are right, the โquietโ pool isnโt really quiet anymore ๐คฃ. Our balcony was on the 2nd floor close to the pool but it didnโt make a difference with our door closed. I didnโt really experience all the โnoiseโ at big pine key that folks talked about

We initially bought at BWV and since added on at AKV, BLT and on my side of the world, VDH and VCG total points now stand a little north of 1K. Dues are my limiting factor. We won't be adding on to our point totals but may shuffle a bit. We would like more AKV and VGC. (who wouldn't?). So we are faced with some hard choices. First we could sell BWV since it expires soonest and use the proceeds to add on at AK and VGC. However we have owned there the longest and you never forget your first! Next we could sell our VDH. I really hate paying the TOT when staying there. However These points become restricted on resale., which means the resale value is diminished. I would take a bath on the transaction, but really dont care as I never looked at DVC as an investment.
Having 3 WDW home resorts and 2 DLR home resorts is a bit much, but gives us tons of options and flexibility. Recent trips have included 3 way splits at AKV, BLT and BWV. 5 nights each place. Grandkids really love the change of scenery and pools! So we may do nothing.
But it is fun to play with various scenarios.

Just added onto with a new Poly contract, but weโre already eyeing a possible BLT contact as itโs the most economical of the monorail resorts. And I reeeally like the Joey Chou art!
Really am interested in Lakeshore Lodge but not sure weโll ever buy one of the resale restricted properties, even direct.

Related but kind of a tangent- I feel like if I add on more than 150 points, I would go direct to get the perks. Also, having bought my first and only contract (so far), I see how easy it could be to sell it if I felt I needed to. Does anyone have any thoughts or perspective on this?

Yup completely agree, but less so because of benefits but rather anything Riviera and newer will require direct points to stay there unless you own there via resale (and you canโt stay anywhere else).
The member benefits are nice too!

We have 160 BLT points. I'm already kicking myself for not getting more, but if we did it would probably be SSR, probably something similar to our current contract to have some more flexibility with renting points out

Weโre probably done with 250 AKV direct and 200 SSR resale.
But I I could see under just the right circumstances adding more points direct to use for annual passes with MMB. Problem is that could go away at any time!.
Iโd love to have VDH for a DL option but it would be hard to buy a resale restricted resort and direct incentives are likely to stay at a higher point total than Iโd want to add.
I currently own 130 points resale at SSR. My next contract will be about 40 points direct at AKL. I want just enough direct points to access a few nights at Riviera, the cabins, and Lakeshore Lodge (when it opens), but I don't want to buy at a restricted resort. AKL is my favorite resort and also happens to be in the cheapest category for direct points, so win win.

Disney is going to have some serious cash coming in 2042 - 2044! Not only will the cost per point be astronomical for these resorts when they resell them but theyโll be able to make the point charts look more like the other premium locations. Oh and perhaps theyโll sell Hilton Head and Vero beach tooโ.

The only deluxe resort weโve stayed at is AKL. But if I were to add on today, probably more AKL points. As we stay at different places, that will probably change.

A SSR resale contract would probably be the route I'd go. Love the resort and the value you get for your points with both the point chart and $/pt when purchasing. And you still get access to other amazing resorts throughout its lifetime.
Now for how many points that's a constant internal debate haha. Would ideally get enough for all runDisney weekends -- then I can use my Polynesian points for a dedicated family vacation/trying out the newer resorts.

Itโs the only deluxe weโve stayed at, so having no other deluxe resorts to compare it to.
That being said, we have 2 young children that LOVED watching the animals from the balcony. The food was excellent. We canโt compare other deluxe transportation, but we had a great experience. The pools were awesome as was the splash pad at Kidani. There were many educational opportunities and Jambo House was very relaxing.

I love our Riviera contract but the draw of the Polynesian is getting harder to ignore. We have a May stay booked at the Poly Tower. I think this trip will either speed up an add on or delay it.
Iโve also been keeping an eye on Lakeshore Lodge. However, I suspect the Poly will win out in the end.

We love the monorail resorts as well! However, we will likely add on at the Grand over the poly. We love the classic poly studios but the tower studios are far too small for us. They are very nice though. We really love the resort studios at Big Pine Key for their proximity to the lobby and the quiet pool. As for the Poly, we always have good luck getting a studio there at 7M. Canโt go wrong either way!

Addonitis is real! DVC contracts are like potato chips, you canโt have just one ๐. We bought our first contract at SSR and quickly had addonitis! We bought PVB a month later and BLT 3 months after that. All resale contracts.
Our next add on will likely be an EPCOT area resort, BWV or BCV. Iโve always liked BWV but we are staying at BCV in August so we will have to see how it compares.

We're probably all done now at 450 points, but when we needed to add to our original 250 AKV direct we bought SSR resale. Those points were primarily necessary because we wanted to go to Aulani and needed a 2 BR for a week during peak travel season. Next up is a 3 night stay at Grand Cal again at peak times in a 2BR - 210 points! Would have consumed almost a whole year of our original contract points and thus we never would have done it.
If you have those kind of trips in mind, the value of the SSR resale points is just incredible!
Currently, we're trying to decide between PVB and SSR. We have only ever stayed at SSR. We mostly plan on staying in 1BRs and maybe occasionally 2BRs. Looking at availability, it seems 1BRs and 2BRs would be difficult to book at PVB at 7mo. Although PVB is a higher buy in, it's technically considered more economical (https://www.dvcresalemarket.com/blog/best-economical-dvc-resorts-to-purchase-fall-2025/). With those considerations, I could be convinced to go with PVB. Of course, SSR is nice with the lower buy in. Considering expiration year, PVB would pair better with our CCV contract. Although SSR's earlier expiration may be timely for when the kids have grown up.
We have two contracts at Riviera totaling 225 points. I would love to add 100 points at SSR at some point. Point chart is generous, dues are reasonable compared to OKW, and I like the accessibility to Disney Springs. After several Disney trips, we started cutting back on park time to save money, so being walking distance to DS would be great, especially for a quick adult getaway.

You can't go wrong between the two really - I like that table on DVC resale market as a simple straight line way to look at things. However, when you take into account time value of money the lower upfront cost for SSR would I think put the cost per pt below Poly. However, if you think you might be interested in 1/2 BR Poly, it may be the better choice.
Also the earlier expiration is really never a benefit even if it matches with the kids timeframe. Even if you're in the mode to reduce your points in 2054, having those extra years left at Poly means you'd be able to sell and recover some value. If BWV and BCV are any indication, you might even be able to sell at that point for shockingly high prices!

True. I've generally leaned to the side that SSR isn't really as economical as some of the longer contracts for that exact reason: you can always sell the longer contract after SSR has expired. Whenever I try to toss in the NPV consideration, I talk myself in circles. On the one hand, if you can get 100 points at SSR for $10,000, whereas PVB would be maybe $17,000. That $7,000 could make a difference if you invest it with a decent return rate. But then if you only have $10,000 to spend and go with SSR and no money to invest, then PVB is a better deal! Lol.

In your example, $7000 pays for another 12 years of stays too.

We own at AK and Boardwalk, and we're working with Derek right now to add a Boulder Ridge contract!! We own AK direct and Boardwalk, and BR will be resale.
So we went to WDW a few times last year. I wanted nothing to do with DVC cuz of the timeshare thing. Well wife convinced me to go to a sales pitch with a dvc guide and we ended up buying 150 direct for poly. Then addonitis hit, cuz 150 at poly isnโt a lot for a family of 6. Then we got ssr resale of 150, then bwv resale of 222 and another 120 and 130 direct at poly so we had plenty of direct to counteract and restrictions. And now we are waiting for the closing on 160 resale bcv. So we now have 932 pts all in less than a year from saying โno I donโt want anything to know about that terrible timeshare dvcโ! ๐คฃ๐คฃ
I think we're finally done. Recently added Poly to the portfolio. Something that I envision potentially happening though is either adding Poly resale down the line or BLT resale and selling off AKV in exchange. Aside from that, it'd take Yacht Club to be converted to DVC or it's 2042 and Beach Club and Boardwalk have brand new deeds to buy.

We most likely will add more RIV points, but we'll buy resale. We just love the resort. Plus the price point for resale is worth it. We can use our direct points to stay anywhere and our resale OKW can be used for the original 14. So we would have no reservations buying resale RIV.
