Working on Vacation
Hi, a small group of us will be staying at the GFV. We added on a day so are staying the first night in a studio before then moving to a 2 bedroom. My sister has to work remotely that day we are transferring rooms. Any suggestions on where a good place for her to go is? This is a resort, no park day. Thanks in advance for any recommendations!
While it's not necessarily quiet (but quieter than the main lobby), there is some nice seating in the lobby of Big Pine Key that could possibly work.
Happy to call the BoardWalk, Bay Lake Tower, and Grand Floridian home!
I'm not as familiar with all of the places in Grand Floridian for working, but there's some amazing locations at the Polynesian and Contemporary if you're willing to take the monorail (a great start to any work day).
Contemporary
Main Building:
There's some seating on the second floor just off the escalators that can be pretty quiet - I've taken a nap and worked from here before. And if I remember correctly they have outlets next to some of the seating
Polynesian
Island Tower:
The lobby, while it can get busy, has some great indoor and outdoor seating that I've always enjoyed working from. -- If the glare is not bad the outdoor seating facing the Seven Seas Lagoon is my favorite.
If you know someone staying at the tower, working from one of the terraces can be very nice and quiet during the day -- No outlets though
Longhouses:
All of the longhouses have a lounge area on pretty much each floor. I've gone to the 2nd floor lounge area in Tokelau and have taken meetings from there. A plus if you're staying at the Poly is you're right next to the pool for mug refills
Grand Ceremonial House:
I've found a hard place that's quiet given how much traffic goes through the main building at any point of the day. But if you don't need a quiet place, any of the seating in the Grand Ceremonial House is nice. There's even some outlets (I've noticed they don't all always work though haha). AND you can get dole whip!!!
With most of these places I'd recommend ensuring you have a full battery - outlets can be pretty sparse and sometimes don't always work. When I'm at a place without an outlet and start getting a low battery I like to use it as a reason to take a break and walk to a find a place with outlets available.
There's probably even more locations that I'll think of, so I'll keep updating this throughout the day.
Home Resorts: Polynesian, Saratoga Springs, ??Lakeshore Lodge??
Thank you both for some great ideas! This is our first time staying at GF so all these ideas help!!! Thanks again!
Another vote for the Contemporary's 2nd floor. You can walk down to the end, and you will be literally all alone with stable wifi. I was a contributor on a podcast's youtube livestream from the 2nd floor, and it was perfect there.

At Boulder Ridge, I've worked on the backside of the lobby. Here you'll find some tables, a model of Walt's train and a cozy fireplace. It's very quite here and I've taught many virtual classes here.
