I think the parks have more free spaces available than Disney Springs. Those garages can fill up on busy weekends.

Most Available WDW Resorts At The 7-Month Window
Most available are Old Key West and Saratoga. AKL standard view rooms and Polynesian longhouse studios also seem to have good availability.
Will resale restrictions ever be reversed?
Never. I think they're OK with the downsides and lower resale value if it means pushing more people to buy direct.
What’s the best strategy if you’ve banked / borrowed and you’re still short on points for the trip you’re planning?
If one time use points won't cover it, then renting the rest and doing a split stay is probably the best option. If if you're flying in late on the first night, rooms at the all stars can cover the difference.

In park - Hollywood Brown Derby. Has a varying menu where everything is great, also an awesome drink menu and atmosphere. Non-park - Jiko. One of the more exotic menus with really good, unique flavors.

I'll be there in two weeks to find out for myself. I've stayed in Jambo, and that wasn't actually that long, but it felt endless because there's nothing to break up the hallway.

Counter point, Boardwalk and BLT have some very cheap rooms if you're doing some park days at the close parks and other non-park days. You get the best of both worlds.
DCL Newbie Looking to Cruise on the cheap
The cheapest possible DCL sailings I'm seeing are 3 and 4 night cruises out of San Diego, Ft. Lauderdale, or Galveston. With the bounce back offer, these would be around $1600 to $1800 for a family of three. If you want a newer ship or to visit Castaway Cay, the cheapest rooms are around $2500, $2100 with the discount.
What's the benefit to owning multiple home resorts?
It's mainly for having multiple 11 month windows. In the example you have, many owners will bank/borrow all 100 points every other year, meaning they'll have 200 points at one resort this year and 200 points at the other resort next year, all usable for the 11 month booking window. You can't buy a pool pass or day pass. I agree with adding one of them to your reservation. There shouldn't be an issue unless the pool is really crowded.
