That’s exactly what we did just a few months ago, picked up a 150 point Poly contract because it’s the last on sale property that will not be subject to resell restrictions if and when we need to sell them.
What do we thing the REAL number is for the Average # of vacation points members have?
If I had to guess the current point is about 200, however, 200 points doesn’t get you very much anymore with regards to the newer resorts unfortunately so that number will probably keep going up:(.
Best Balconies?
I concur that Old Key West has the best balconies because they are actually usable with a full table and chairs, and not just a couple bistro chairs.
Split Stays?
I have done a few of them. The biggest downside is the check-in time is not necessarily at 4 PM, so I feel as though you’re actually getting less value out of your points if you do split days because you lose however many hours it takes to get to the next room. For those that are doing full park days, it may not be so

Since DVC has a 50 year timeframe , I can’t see them wanting to artificially limit a brand new building by a few years, just to add to an existing association. We also just bought Poly in the last month or so, also direct, as it's the "last" resort without future restrictions. We'll eventually try to stay at some point, but the tower point chart is scary on some days :(

I see them going straght to 200 points for the next bump, and probably around the time LSL going on sale. Reason being is the new point charts on all the new resorts make having just 150 points not enough for many decent stays at said new resorts.

What's the benefit to owning multiple home resorts?
Different 11 month booking windows (using those specific points) or add-on itis means you're always looking for the best deal so you might not be able to buy all into the same resort, for a price you want to pay that is :) I fall into the latter :D There are a mulittude of other reasons but I'm sure these are probably
