Same or different use year for a different resort?
What are people's thoughts on getting the same or a different use year when buying a contract at a different resort? On the hand I can see it's easier to have both resorts be the same use year when keeping track of 11 and 7 months, but OTOH that limits the opportunities available. Does it make a difference if both resorts are at WDW versus one at WDW and one West Coast? We own at BWV but are considering AUL. TIA
Iβm not an expert on thus topic but I seem to recall hearing on the podcast that it us easier to have the same use year with the exception of having points at a resort that you plan on using specifically at that property. As you mentioned, AUL or a Disneyland resort that the points wonβt generally be used at WDW.

I'm still in research mode so I'm just parroting what I've heard in podcasts and videos but... Location doesn't matter between WDW, DL, and Aulani. Different use year will mean a different member number. You have to call Member Services to use the points together. It sounds like unless you have zero intention to ever use points from both contracts on one trip it is better to keep 1 UY for everything.
I find it easier to have them under the same Use Year (I have 3 home resorts under the same Use Year), but if you never plan to combine your points, having different Use Years isn't problematic. Here are some things to consider if it's helpful: https://dvcfan.com/purchasing-dvc/home-resort-and-use-year-considerations-for-adding-on-dvc-points/
Happy to call the BoardWalk, Bay Lake Tower, and Grand Floridian home!
I'd be curious to hear how others make it work with multiple UYs. We own 125 resale at Copper Creek and are thinking of 150 direct with Poly this summer. I'm tempted to stagger the use years for the purposes of Magical Beginnings but don't know if that would end up being a huge mistake. Coincidentally we have done split stays each time we've been to WDW with points since purchasing, so it might be manageable, but I'm sure its hard to know beforehand.
