Hello - I'm Ryan one of your moderators
Hi I'm Ryan, one of the DVC Fan moderators.
If you're a fellow DVC member, how long have you been a DVC member and what are your home resorts?
If you're thinking about buying DVC, what resort are you thinking about purchasing?
For me, I purchased DVC in 2019 but didn't use my points until after the parks reopening from the pandemic shutdown in 2020 (I think Oct 2020 is when I first used my points!). I purchased BLT site unseen based on its proximity to Magic Kingdom since we had young children it made sense to be able to walk to MK.
But before we even used our points for the first time, we added on more points at BLT and added on more points at BCV. Then over the last few years we added contracts at VGC and VGF.
Needless to say we caught the addonitis bug!

Hello, Ryan!
If I bought another DVC resort, it would be Lakeshore Lodge.

Hi Ryan!
I own at Riviera and BLT. I'm considering selling my BLT contract to purchase points at Poly or LSL. I have 253 points and would love to get closer to 350-400 in the next year or so!
I'm a DL local so a VDH contract is tempting, too. I'm incredibly indecisive lol!
Hi, Ryan!
I also became a DVC member in 2019 and own at BWV, BLT, and VGF--location, location, location! If I were to buy another contract right now, it would be at the Poly since I've loved every stay there so far. Otherwise, I'll be waiting until the Yacht Club Villas becomes a thing!
Happy to call the BoardWalk, Bay Lake Tower, and Grand Floridian home!
Hello Ryan!
We finally pulled the trigger on a direct contract back in September of 2025. We were trying to save up to pay cash on a contract, and you know, life just kept getting in the wayπ€¦πΌββοΈ. Weβve been βsavingβ and getting no where and decided weβll never get there. And we were watching prices just increase!! Thankfully Disney JUST BEGAN offering a 15 year loan which helped us set up an affordable monthly payment. We bought 165 points at Poly Tower with a welcome home stay coming up in August!! Iβm already dreaming about adding on about 50 or so resale contract points in the near-ish futureπ.

Awesome, congrats and Welcome Home! You know a lot of folks said that due to increasing prices it was better for them to lock in the price now and get the loan. Hope you enjoy your first stay in August!

Thanks for being a moderator, @Ryan C!
We bought in 2020 at Riviera and also have added on at VGC and VDH. We are quite elated with our portfolio of homes. Truly bought where you want to stay.

West Coast (Seattle area) teachers. Hi!
AKL and SSR here, only just bought in 2025...was able to get almost immediate use with them during Thanksgiving week (after putting in a lot of waitlists and gobbling up one day at a time).
I'm consistently looking for another contract (most likely resale - prob BLT or CCV). But, I am holding out to see how Lakeshore Lodge plays out. I may get a small contract before then to scratch that itch.

Lake Shore Lodge definitely looks interesting, especially with the nice pool area they're putting in there - it might challenge for the best pool on property!

Great home resorts! I've only stayed at Riviera once and only for 1 night, but was pretty nice! VDH is great too, love that there is more DVC at Disneyland with VDH and of course love VGC as its also one of my home resorts! :)

Hey Ryan!
My DVC story is very similar to yours. Bought in 2019, months before our first kid was born, but for all the reasons back then didn't get to stay on points for the first time until 2021. Added on more points in late 2022. We're AKV people though (and prefer Kidani).
I'm excited about the new forums here.

Hi Ryan and all!
Bought Saratoga Springs long ago when it was just $85/point and bought Boardwalk resale during the pandemic. Wish I had known about DVC sooner so I could have purchased Beach or Boardwalk direct -- best kept secret! I like how your post asked "what resorts" knowing that one is never enough!!!
Now I just need an airline timeshare contract to manage air fares over time!

Wow, $85/point is a great price! I agree, for me after buying BLT we immediately went to work looking for a BCV contract - I think having a Monorail resort + a Crescent Lake resort is such a good combo for split stays!

Hi Ryan! Thanks for moderating. We have been going to the parks multiple times per year since they opened AP back up to out of staters after the pandemic. We just bought our first contract this year at Saratoga. Have already booked all our borrowed points and are keeping our eyes out for another contract π€£

Hi Ryan!
We've been members since 2022 and our home resorts are Riviera, Aulani, Animal Kingdom and Polynesian. We purchased those resorts in that order although we added on more points at Riviera after we purchased Animal Kingdom. Our first add on occurred 1 month after we purchased our first contract so addonitis hit extremely fast.
We most recently purchased 200 points direct at Polynesian in mid January so we're not looking to purchase more points any time soon and with the amount we have I don't think we really need more. I know addonitis is a thing but the dues are becoming a bit unreasonable as is and we'd consider offloading Animal Kingdom down the line but we'll see if we're able to use all of the points first.
That said, if they make a Yacht Club DVC resort, all bets are off.
Proud owners at:

Agree, I'm OK with my points haul for now - but a Yacht Club DVC resort would certainly change my mind.
Annual Dues are definitely the cure for addonitis!

Hi Ryan, We are from Seattle and have been members since 1996 with a 250 point purchase at BWV. I was at the Boardwalk for a conference and brought the wife. She did a lot of resort hopping while I was in meetings. She pulled me into a DVC presentation at the boardwalk and the rest is history. We took the family the following month to our first of many BWV vacations.
After the kids left home and started their own families, we added on at BLT, followed by VDH, AKV and VGC. We now have 1008 points all direct. (Yes Even VGC!) Would like a few more points at VGC or AK, but would have to sell our VDH to do so. Dues are my limiting factor.
DVC has allowed us to share our love of Disney with our grandkids. While staying at BLT our 4 year old DGD said. "Ok I live here now!" Broke my heart to tell her no, we just visit.
We are in the process of adding our grown children to our deeds. Pass the magic along as it were.
I have seen many changes in Disney resorts. They seem to become more bland. Gone it seems are the richly themed resorts such as AKV, BWV and WL. Replaced by the PIT, and RIV which remind me of medical centers or Marriott and not Disney. I sure hope LL goes back to the old ways. But I dont have much hope.

Hey Ryan! Bought 150 direct at BVW in 98, added 100 direct in 2011 also at BVW, just cleared ROFR for another 100 at BVW. Getting ready to bring the 2 grands between now and 2042!
Hey Ryan, owner at SSR resort and BWV. Bought back in about 2012, all 3 contracts were resale. Best move we ever made. We travel to WDW about 2-4 times a year from Pennsylvania. My favorite resort is always changing, but right now it is the new Poly tower, so guess if I was going to buy more points it would be Poly.

Hey Ryan. My wife and I have owned for 2 years now. Our home resort is BLT. We have only stayed there once so far but we absolutely loved it. If my wife ever lets me add on again, I would love to purchase a small 75-100 point contract at BWV. I would love to have that 11 month booking window there.

Nice, BWV is a great resort to start with - I'm so glad you've gotten so much use out of your points. I think the asthetics of the resorts can come and go and will change over time with refurbs and such. The "style" seems to currently be brighter colors with less in your face theming, but that could easily change in the next refurb.

+1 having a car on property has been great. Renting a car has been a positive change for us - I was disappointed when Magical Express went away, mostly the luggage delivery service because I bought in thinking that I'd be able to drop my luggage at my airport and then have it show up in our room, but that went away before we even got the chance to use our first DVC points. But renting a car has allowed us to explore more of Orlando and go other places than just Disney including some great restaurants.

+1 as well. We have always rented a car and agree, it is well worth the expense. Using DVC as a home base for other side trips is priceless. It has become a family tradition to visit GatorLand every trip. Not to mention the trips to the grocery store or to Steak-N-Shake. (We do not have Steak-N-Shake around us). Freedom is the keyword, just like having a Sorcerer's Pass!

Hi @Ryan C !
I put in an offer in 2022, and closed in 2023. 25pts resale at BWV. Sadly I have visited Disney since then, but never on my points! I keep getting injured right before my trips. π
Hoping I won't have to give away my reservation this year, and am looking forward to being Soggy in the Lobby this September!
