You make a good point about Disney justifying the change because of the remodel. I think another reason it didn't get much attention, is because this was during the time that Chapek made a TON of other cuts - Magic Express, Fast Pass, merchandise delivery to your room, reduction of extended hours, no more free magic ba
Resale members were able to use the Bay Lake Tower lounge prior to the pandemic. This is probably because the lounge opened before resale restrictions existed. When the Top of the World lounge reopened after Covid, they changed the rules to no longer allow resale memebers. The EPCOT, Disneyland, and Magic Kingdom loung
You are correct that grandfathered resale members/those who qualify for membership extras are allowed to use the lounge. Prior to the pandemic, it was available to ALL members. When they opened back up post-Covid, the lounge was for direct/grandfathered members only. I'm totally okay with them restricting access to the
The lounge is only available for direct members. It's a shame, because it used to be one of the few perks that resale members got. I'm okay with Disney restricting access for new membership extras going forward, but taking a pre-existing benefit away never sat right with me.
My parents rent in Vero Beach, ironically! Its mostly retirees outside of the DVC resort.
Great point! I guess it depends on if you need the 11 month booking advantage or not. I assume most small points contracts are dependent upon it. I know I certainly am!!!
My guess is that the random number of points reflect the exact amount needed to stay in a certain season. An example would be purchasing a 36pt contract for 4 nights at OKW in September. I remember Paul & Amy saying tht their Grand Cal was a weird number for this same reason. Of course, points charts change every year.
Unfortunately there are no other DVC resorts that allow pets. If you want to book a cash stay, Yacht Club, Port Orleans Riverside, and Art of Animation all have pet friendly rooms. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/rooms-packages/hotels-pet-friendly/
In this scenario, would the points for each resort remain separate, or would they become one big pool? The benefit of CFW being in the same trust would presumably be to share dues with a larger property, bringing the annual cost down. But if the points were combined, Disney could reallocate the points across both resor
As for Hollywood Studios, I'd like a dark ride featuring Fantasia with minor drops/thrills. Intensity like Pirates, for example. @juliebee TAKE MY MONEY!!!
Thanks, Ryan - me too! I'm sick and tired of broken bones!!!
@WelcomeHomeKenny hybrid is definitely out of my price range! But a girl can dream!!! Also I want to thank you for spelling my name right on the first try - I get a lot of Steph and Stef! 🩵
Hi @Ryan C ! I put in an offer in 2022, and closed in 2023. 25pts resale at BWV. Sadly I have visited Disney since then, but never on my points! I keep getting injured right before my trips. 😭 Hoping I won't have to give away my reservation this year, and am looking forward to being Soggy in the Lobby this September!
I cannot see buying direct making sense as we don't feel the direct perks are strong enough. @WelcomeHomeKenny I agree that direct perks are not a strong enough incentive to buy direct. Disney changes the perks all of the time, so depending on them to be the same year after year is a fool's errand! For example, I start
Is there a deal Disney could offer that would make you immediately want to add on direct points over resale? If they dropped the membership extras amount back down to 25pts, I would buy direct in a heartbeat!!! 🤣😆🤣
@DVC_Ed you're correct- it's literally a big plastic storage bin! The company will deliver and pick up right from your room. The moderate plan currently costs $125/year, and includes one free "round trip" of delivery+pickup. If you're going more than once per year, it's definitely cheaper than checking luggage!* To my
Like many here, I found out about DVC from the original show. I spent years being jealous of all of the members until New Year's Eve 2022, when I put in a lowball offer on a 25pt partially stripped BWV contract. The magic of the holidays paid off, and my offer was accepted! My intention was to use my contract to stay i
"I would have bought at BWV but they got rid of the clown." Do you want to be new best friends? Lollll BWV is my home resort, and I never got to see the clown slide in person. 😭 I'll riot if they touch the nanny chairs!!!
