Plans for contracts expiring in 2042?

Curious to see what people's plans are for contracts expiring in 2042, especially those who only own a 2042 contract. We only own BCV, which expires in 2042. Assuming we want to continue DVC ownership past the BCV expiration date (we are still evaluating that), I am kicking around what the best options would be. Do we sell our BCV now and then buy a contract with a later expiration date? Do we keep enjoying our current contract and then buy a 2nd contract a couple of years before ours expires? Do we wait and see if DVC announces plans for those 2042 resorts...like maybe extending them?

At the end of the day, we like having one 200 point contract. It fits our needs. The question is, how to transition from our contract that is currently expected to expire in 2042?

I wad lucky that my parents bought in 2005. I mow have 2 little girls pf my own and i plan on keeping my BWV contract until 2042. My girls will be in college when the contract expires. Right now i can make surr we enjoy disney at a great resort and great location. My girls love the Boardwalk.

After 2042, i have yet to decide. If thwy offered an extension like Old Key West i would probably jump on it. I like the location of the boardwalk so much. I’ve thought maybe i would buy a riviera resale.

I agree on the extension. If Beach Club offers an extension, I will probably sprint to buy it. But from everything I hear on podcasts, DVC is unlikely to do another extension due to the chaos of the OKW extension. We'll see.

We are kicking the tires on the idea of selling our BCV and using that money to purchase somewhere else to extend our DVC membership. Two problems, though. One, we love BCV and want to get as many years out of that membership as we can. Two, we will be in our mid 60's when our contract expires...which we thought was the perfect age to "retire" from DVC. Will we want to continue going to as much when we are older?

We are curious what others are planning to do when/before 2042.

Ya i’ll be in my late 50s and like i stated my girls will be graduating college. Would i like to still go to disney, maybe. I’m also using the next 16 years to see how disney changes as i currently feel the value of disney world bas decreased compared to 10-15 years.

We bought our BWV contract back in 1996! 2042 seemed like a whole world away. We will be in our mid 80's when it expires. We love BWV. Your first is always special! We plan on holding on until the end. Our kids loved it (still do) and now our grandkids love it. Have no idea what Disney will do. If an extension is offered, we. will probably take it. If not, then it was been a great ride!

Bought BWV in 2003 and we'll be holding. I had a 18m old when we bought, now my kids are 24 and almost 22 and they still come with us once a year.

Back then I couldn't imagine that we would still be going yearly with the kids and enjoying it 23ys on but here we are.

If I was younger I would sell right now and buy something with a longer expiration date. But I'll be 76 when we lose BWV and still have a small BLT contract and the vacation house in sw florida so we're good.

We briefly entertained selling our two BWV contracts last year but decided to ride it out to 2042. It is just where we want to stay. We might do an extended OKW or an AKV after 2042. DW and I will both be close to retirement by then, so we might just become locals! Maybe by then our VGC contract will be worth enough for a down payment on a nice beach house lol.

I just bought a 2042 BRV instead of buying SSR for sleep around points. We followed the buy where you want to stay adage at still a competitive cost per point. We also thought it would give us flexibility in 2042 - our kids will be much older then and who knows what we’ll all be into. We also own BLT currently, so were fine with a small add on rolling off.

BWV is my favorite, so I'll be holding on until 2042! That said, the shorter deed is partly what led me to add on at other resorts (BLT and VGF). This way, I can still have points after 2042.

Happy to call the BoardWalk, Bay Lake Tower, and Grand Floridian home!

We have 150 points at BWV and would love the extension if they offered it. Fairly confident they won't after the OKW debacle though. Maybe they will be crazy enough to try it again. One can hope!

We will hold until 2042. Its our favorite resort and we originally bought it with the intent of being done with dvc in 2042. I didnt like the idea of paying dues for forever. especially once my kids are grown and hopefully hustling in college to make a life.

But of course the dvc bug bit us. We bought a small BLT contract so that we have extra points to have one bedrooms now. Then once our kids are grown, it can be a fun trip for me and my husband to go every other year. Win now and win later.

Precisely! We bought 250 points back in 1996. 2042 was so far in the future as to be nearly invisible! Now it is coming up like a wet kiss on a fast fist! We also started adding on to ensure we can keep our DVC fix. Little did we know that Adding On becomes a bit addictive! By the time 2042 rolls around, we will be in our mid 80's. I sure hope we are able to continue our twice yearly escapes to the Disney bubble. However, we just added our grown children to our deeds. Perhaps they will want to add on to replace the 250 points that will be lost.

Until then, we are going to enjoy the ride!
