Tips for Surviving Summer/Early Fall Trips
What are all your best tips for surviving a summer and early fall trips - those hot and humid days. Off the wall tips not the stuff you see everywhere (afternoon breaks, pack ponchos, etc).
Obviously a refillable water bottle and make sure you get ice water from a QS restaurant and stay hydrated.
Forget the Disney shirts, sweat wicking shirts are a must. Not only do they help keep you cool, they are quick dry so if it does rain your clothes dry quickly. You can also get quick drying shorts.
I also bought a misting fan, Disney sells them in the parks but you can buy a small handheld one that is rechargeable from Amazon. This is the one I bought but they have different models I'm sure online: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DTHQWJ9P
I also like cooling towels, these ones are great from Mission - https://www.amazon.com/MISSION-Cooling-Evaporative-Instantly-Protection/dp/B07YN8DWST
Also buying sun screen that isn't too heavy. Unfortunately the USA is behind the times on sun screens, the FDA hasn't updated the allowable sun screen ingredients since 1999, so they're 26 years behind. I've found asian sun screens to be a lot better, particularly Korean brands. It is a lot more expensive to buy now than it used to be, but it can make you feel a lot less hot when you're wearing a lighter feeling sun screen.

Personally, we bounce around with brands- for reef safe we like coola brand. I like to use both a chemical sunscreen and a physical sunscreen depending on the situation. We live near Hersheypark and one of my favorites are powdered sunscreens with a brush applicator for reapplying sunscreen to faces, ears, and exposed chest neck- without needing to be near a sink to wash hands. You can also buy a sunscreen applicator for applying or reapplying liquid sunscreen.

The Biore AquaRich Sun screen is great - the USA version even isn't too bad, but the Japanese version is better because of the better ingredients.
I wouldn't necessarily buy it from Amazon because it isn't that cheap, but here is a link to the Japanese version: https://www.amazon.com/Japanese-Sunscreen-Aqua-Watery-Essence/dp/B0FJZYBSHV
I usually buy it from https://www.sayweee.com which is an online asian grocery store that delivers to your house.
I also tried this Korean sunscreen that is good: https://www.yami.com/en/p/round-lab-s-birch-juice-moisturizing-sunscreen-spf-50-pa-50ml-single/5022416701?scene=item_search.result&bu_type=search&module_name=input&index=11&content=birch%20juice&track=search-input-11-5022416701&pg=1
Make sure you get the Korean version and not the USA version of the Round Lab sunscreen.

A few things which work for me (6'4", 235 lb guy)
-Get and wear the RSVLTs shirts to the parks. Gotta make sure it's their Knuflex tech shirts. Dont know how they do it, but they keep you cool, dry, all day no matter how much I sweat. I won't wear anything else to the parks now in the heat.
-I would HIGHLY recommend investing in a good belt fan. these can be used as a handheld fan, but you can put it on your belt, clip your shirt around, and it acts like your personal AC unit. I never go to the park without it. This is the one I bought and it is a beast! LINK
- Get Pedialyte, specifically, the Advanced Care line. It's what many professional athletes use to hydrate. I used to also be very heavy in the craft beer scene, and it's what all those guys use to keep hydrated while consuming large amounts of beer. It does wonders to take these little pouches, add one to a bottle of water every so often and it will make you perk up instantly. LINK
- The Mission cooling towels are great. Just be sure to keep re-activating them with water/snapping
- Try your best to factor the heat into planning/attraction strategy. We often will try to alternate rides so that we are hitting indoor/AC temp controlled rides in between ones which are outside. This allows us natural breaks from the heat.

.
The other thing I’d recommend is taking a midday break during the day back at the resort. Especially in the heat of the day it’s good to heat back, nap, go to the pool, hang out in the room, and just give yourself a break from the heat and humidity.
Renter, but don’t own
Mission cooling hats are great too. I have a couple of the baseball hat styles I keep in the owner’s locker.

All of the above plus a UV umbrella! They are small but omg you don't realize how little shade there is until you're looking for some (looking at you Epcot).

Second the UV umbrellas! That and a cooling towel/fan makes all the difference when the feels like temperature is 110! We regularly go the first week of June and they have been game changers. Electrolytes are also really helpful- we like Ultima.

I have actually really liked wearing my spirit jerseys in July for the extra coverage from the sun, and being a little loose gives me some air circulation. I pair them with an athletic romper or bike shorts and a cap with my ears over top (which helps alleviate the tightness on my head too). My husband has recently converted to the cooling mesh boxer briefs which has helped tremendously with chaffing.
Other than that, sunscreen every two hours like clockwork, UV umbrella, handheld and/or neck fans, and staying hydrated. We also do more late nights to take advantage of the cooler evenings. I’ve tried the cooling towels and just can’t ever get a system that works for them.

If you’re staying in a 1bedroom or higher, stick a couple water bottles in the freezer. We use the ice cold water to activate our cooling towels throughout the day.
