Heartily agreeing with Chili327 on buying where you love now if at all possible. You could start with an affordable resale contract and later add on enough direct points to meet the required minimum (currently 150 points) at either that resort or when Lakeshore goes on sale. Lakeshore is likely to have restrictions com
Would have said GF Cafe about 10 years ago until they went to that brunch menu that has almost nothing we each like. Had a yukky dinner there last trip. Too bad. We have glowing memories of the lobster Thermidor burger years ago, topped with a whole claw’s meat. Ohhhh, my! Not like that will return. < sniffle! > We enj
Actually, we’re kinda grateful to ROFR Monster for gobbling up an OKW contract we bid on several years ago, figuring we’d mostly use the points for sleeping around. (That’s trying other DVC resorts for you newbies who may not know the term.) After the monster munched it up, we realized OKW wasn’t for us anyway. Whew!
We haven’t kids but have seen how many families with very young kids love Chef Mickey’s on the CR Concourse. It’s not quite as earsplittingly loud as the enclosed room character meals can be because CM opens onto the Concourse. All those excited squeals are lessened somewhat by that format. The food is pretty standard
Seconding Amy that the area in front of Gaspy’s is excellent if you get there earlier than early. It’s a very popular site because you have a straight on view of the castle. Just stunning. Lots of people suggest timing dinner at Narcoosees to include fireworks—the catch being that people pack the deck to the point that
Rise of the Resistance, about which I knew squat, is incredible. The drama and spectacle make you feel part of the story, a thrilling one. Even if you’ve ridden it umpteen times, that you can get onto the ride in hardly any time is a thrill, too. Strongly suggest you eat dinner in the park for that MK holiday parties e
Yachtsman used to do a very good steak, now passable to nearly there, imo. (Roasted garlic for the bread—YOWZA!) I’m heavily biased, I confess. I grew up on beef from a relative’s small family feedlot. Very few steaks or burgers equal how deelish the meat we got from them was.
Staying in a VGF 1br is a well-documented cause of addonitis. Our first contract was 100 pts. Our eyes lit like the Osborne Lights when we realized what those double points at direct buy-in can do. Yup, spent a blissful week in a 1br. And then, a mere 2 years later, point costs did the usual thing, leaving us studio-bo
DVCDad mentions: One caveat is that my family is vegan, so I am selecting very specifically for a narrow set of plant-based options. Are you a fan of Princess and the Bear’s YT restaurant reviews? They do a good job detailing likes/dislikes, imo. Princess is vegan and explains well which dishes can be modified at each
We’ve a week at BLT starting THIS weekend. I need me some Disney in a serious way. Cannot wait to be home again. Have stayed in the Contemporary and eaten there various times but not even dropped in to BLT. Hints and tips requested, please, for those little known hidey holes and other BLT secrets—the things that make B
808Mouse says: Boardwalk is simply vibrant & electrifying. Precisely why we found it too much of a muchness and escaped to BCV. Yes, BWV is lovely since the refurb, and we did stay briefly in a cozy 1br. It surely does have a boardwalk atmosphere that many enjoy immensely. (I actually LIKE those infamous nanny chairs.)
Cali Grill needs to drop this prix fixe nonsense. Annoying to have 3 courses when you may only want an appetizer or two or entree. And while they’re at that, bring back the daggoned brunch. It was deeelish.
H’lo back atcha, DVCDad. We’re VGF/BCV owners, too. We did nothing beyond walking through the building and across the BCV courtyard to conclude we definitely wanted to buy there. Just our vibe, classy and peaceful. Still haven’t stayed at either BC or BCV. We tend to do that—buy, then stay. Which most everybody will te
Seriously! I mean, look at that smile! If that doesn’t say “Hoop De Doo” without a word said…
heeee hee hee Oh, yeah, Sweetie, I’m already ahead of you in post count. You know me on Disney forums—insatiable. So, yeah, the photo up there <points upward> is from one of our holiday season trips. Yes, trips-plural. This wonderful guy takes me to Disney almost every year to celebrate my and my twin Mickey’s birthday
The Grand has been our home since 2010, resort side, until we finally did the forehead slap, “What have we been thinking? We NEED to get into DVC!” That we did in 2017, buying direct when it was off-sale. We did NOT care. We knew we wanted The Grand and only that resort forever—or 10,000 miles etc. That first contract
I’m the contrarian to Ryan C. Mine is an easy-peasy choice—Victoria and Albert’s. Some background on me and hubby, first. We don’t do bars (don’t drink) and aren’t paint-the-town people. Instead, we eat out once or twice a week and otherwise save our bucks for WDW and a magnificent dinner at “Vicki & Al’s.” We Disney l
