Hi Kenny, I have a Favorite Week contract for the Polynesian. I just purchased it earlier this year, so haven't had a chance to use my favorite week yet, and in fact don't plan to use it for at least few more years. What is nice about the Favorite Week is that you can forgo that week and just use the points as normal,
We've been paying a lump sum at the beginning of the year that way I only grumble about it once a year rather than every month š
Agree with Magical Express! Uber costs add about $100-120 roundtrip just to/from the airport. It would be great to start off the vacation not dealing with some crazy Uber driver.
I'm really wanting to stay at Riviera soonish so I know if I need to get a contract here. I'm expecting to really like this resort and might want that home resort booking period. I'll be watching your posts to see how this sells out!
oh goodness, just caught up on this thread and what a journey. How disappointing they plan to pull the AKL add-on for 6/8. Perhaps they will extend it or it will reappear at the next incentive period. Hoping the next chapter of this story has the happy ending you are wanting!
Yes, your direct points would be allowed to book at the newer restricted resorts like VDH and RIV. Now you get the fun part of deciding which resort to buy into. I'm looking forward to seeing what the incentives are, but I'm not purchasing. Sometimes the new incentives aren't better than the past ones, so to that I will mention Edna's famous advice. If now is the right time for you to buy, don't fuss that it could have been cheaper before... don't look back.
okay, that totally makes sense then. My guide could have been better about offering that service, but getting our Certificate of Trust notarized at the Credit Union was free and not a hassle at all. But the notary did want to ask a BUNCH of questions about DVC š

I thought of a tip that I want to pass along that might help future DVC purchasers. If you already have a trust set up and are going to buy a Direct contract with DVC. They require you to fill out and have notarized a "Certificate of Trust". I hear of people that are planning to buy a contract while they are in person,
The resale restriction (if it's like the restriction on the prior new DVC resorts) would be that anyone that buys a resale contract for the Lakeshore Lodge would only be able to use the points there and nowhere else. However, we haven't seen the contract restrictions for it yet, so DVC could roll different restrictions
Currently, there is some availability at a BLT 1 bedroom depending on the Th-Sun you pick. There are also several other resorts with availability, so I'm going to hope your points load up and you'll be selecting your stay soon!
I do own my DVC contracts, house, etc in a revocable trust. We had our trust set up prior to buying into DVC, so I didn't go through the transfer process. I just saw on FB today where an adult son was asking for help on how to deal with his deceased parent's contract. The contract wasn't in a trust or in his name, so D

Something to consider is that there haven't been any incentives for purchases of just 25 points. I'm not sure they have offered incentives for those buying under 100 points either. So if you are thinking of buying small direct contracts, plan to pay full price for each point, even as a current owner.
