Kinda late to this party! We have 5 home resorts! 3 at WDW and 2 at DLR. Started with BWV and stayed that way until several years ago when we started adding on. We were getting ready to retire and wanted more points for longer stays. We also wanted a bit of variety . We now do 3 way split stays at WDW (BWV, BLT, and AK
We bought VDH when it was first offered. We live on the west coast, which makes DLR an easy flight, unlike the 6 hour journey to Orlando. We could not afford VGC when it came on sale and always was bummed about that. We did use our points back in the early 2006 to book a stay at the hotel side of the Grand Californian.
October and December are Great months to visit Florida. Not too hot not too humid. In the old days we would go the first. 2 weeks in December. It was great! Parks were not crowded. Agreed! I did not like BLT when we first went in. We had bought sight unseen, just going on location. Very underwhelming. Not much of a lobby. Themeing was nonexistent. We were used to the Boardwalk and OKW. What a difference. All that went a way when we entered the room. We had a 2 bedroom since we had our 2 grandkids
About the only DDR we ever make is at the Sci-Fi. Always a must do. We also do the Rainforest Cafe if the grandkids are in tow. Otherwise it is usually eat in the room or do QS at the resort.
We almost never have an issue booking a 1 or 2br villa at either BWV or BLT at the 11 month window. Studios are another issue, I think due to commercial renters. When we could not get BWV, our default fall back is OKW. It is very laid back and relaxing. Sure, you have to bus everywhere, but that was not an issue. Have

You have never been to Pixar Place in DLR. Those elevators are the very definition of bad. The last time we visited they had CMs directing guests and even taking groups of guests to the staff elevators. Perhaps that is fixed now, but it was very very bad. We went to the Epcot Flower and Garden last May. We also stayed at the Boardwalk. Very surprised at how hot May could be. The Boardwalk was baking! Even the locals were complaining! Thunderstorms did not help the humidity. We really enjoyed it and really want to do Flower and Garden again, just a bit earlier, say April

I agree. We have never bought one and never will. The only time we used one is the "free" one they give you instead of early entry at DLR. Dont get me started on how much a rip off that is. Our trips are long enough that we get multiple park days in each park. If the line is too long at one ride, we just move along.
We cannot take the heat, so florida and most of the south is out. The climate here in seattle is about perfect for us. We tend to take our trips during the "gloomy" winter days when the weather down south is more hospitable.
