200‑Point BLT Contract — Good Deal or Pass?
We’re a family of three and usually stay for a week at a time. I’ve been watching BLT contracts for about a year now, mostly in the mid‑point range with a fall use year, since that would generally cover a week in a studio if availability lines up.
I recently found a larger BLT contract at what I’d consider a strong price. The only catch is that it doesn’t include the next year’s points. Since we already have our 2026 trip booked and paid for, I would have been banking that year anyway, so the missing points aren’t necessarily a deal‑breaker for us.
The extra points would give us more flexibility with studio stays, and I’m also thinking ahead — as our daughter gets older, I can see us eventually moving to a 1‑bedroom, so having a little extra cushion now might help with the inevitable point creep.
For those who’ve been through this decision: how much weight do you put on a missing year of points versus the long‑term flexibility of a larger contract?
Really important note here: the BLT studio is smaller in comparison to other studios, but it is not drastic. compared to a normal hotel room, the studios are quite spacious! We are a family of 4 (4 and 2 yr olds) and we easily fit into the BLT studio with plenty of room to play/get around one another.
I think 200 pts is a great spot for your plan. You'll have no problem with studio stays, and if you desire to go to 1br's later on, you can do so comfortably at many times of the year. GET IT!

We stayed in a BLT resort view last year with cash. My wife still isn't sure how she did it in the hospital room recovering from surgery. But we loved it. It worked well for us. I think for at least the next few years it will work well. Until we need to get more points a 1 bedroom. We stayed in the Contemporary garden wing two years ago, and plan to again this year. We love the Contemporary and BLT. We love being close to MK and on the monorail. I pulled the trigger on the offer. I just needed that small push. I really think this the right move with how we like to travel, and with room to grow. Thank you all!
It sounds like you’ve done your homework.
One way to evaluate losing this year’s points is to apply a price per point threshold for that year’s allotmen.—say $20/point. Then recompute the cost with that expected deduction in sales price.
So, for example, if a 200 point contract would normally sell at $150/point or $30k (chose these numbers just for the simplicity in math), then a contract without 2026 points could reasonably be priced at $26k or $130/point ($30k - $4k for the loss of 2026 points).
It doesn’t work out that way exactly, but that is the back of the envelope math I’ve applied when evaluating resale contracts.
You are in a strong buying position by not needing current-year points. I would flex that advantage when offerring.

Did some of the math and put in a lower bid. It got accepted! Thanks again all! We'll see how the whole process goes from here. Very exciting

That’s awesome!! Welcome home!
The refurbished rooms at BLT look amazing. We’ve been wanting to try a 1BR there for quite some time.
