I'm Ryan, a moderator on our DVC Fan Facebook Group and now our new forums!

I'm so excited to have these new forums as another place to build our amazing community. DVC Fan has always been my go to place to talk all things DVC and now we can have even better conversations via the forums.

I currently reside in Northern Virginia with my wife and 2 kids. We try to come down to the Orlando area as much as we can!

We bought DVC (BLT) in 2019 right before the pandemic started - didn't even use our points until Oct 2020 but had already gotten addonitis and purchased 2 more contracts at resale (BLT and BCV). Now we own at BLT, BCV, VGF and VGC!

While I'd call Orlando our home away from home, we love going to Disneyland in Anaheim and are now starting to explore the other Disney parks as well - our most recent trip was to Tokyo Disney.

We're not quite as avid cruisers as Amy & Paul but we also enjoy going on cruises, NCL has been our cruise line of choice but we've recently started sailing on Disney Cruise line as well.

Mike here from Northern Virginia. Like many where I now live, I am a transplant from somewhere else (in my case, Michigan). I have recently joined civilian life, having retired from the US Army after 20+ years.

Thanks to you, Paul, and all of DVC Fan for putting together these forums! I find the info from the DVC Fan of great value and utility as I look to maximize my benefits as a DVC Member. My family (wife + 2 teens) made the plunge to DVC in April of 2024 while sailing on the Disney Fantasy, buying into the Riviera. While we have yet to stay there (but booked for this July!) we have used our points to stay at Aulani (my wife's price for getting into DVC) and Saratoga Springs.

Looking forward to all the discussion and tips to come :)

West Coast DVCer here — I didn’t exactly grow up with Disney, but quickly learned it’s written into the fine print when you marry a SoCal girl and have kids. No complaints though!

Our home turf is Grand Cal, the Disneyland Hotel, and Aulani, though we’ve been rapidly falling for our newer additions — Grand Floridian and Boardwalk.

As a Facebook-free human, I’m especially excited to finally be part of a community where I can join the surveys that feed into the show episodes.

Member since 1997 no one knew what DVC was back then in Uk. Kids are now 43 35 and 31! Special memories and still making them. Looking forward to cruise.

Thank you for joining us! That photo is amazing. When Paul and I visited Disneyland in December of 2019, we had no idea they lit up Small World like that. We rode Small World Holiday twice during daytime, but we were completely oblivious and missed the lights at night. I'm still kicking myself because we haven't been there during the Christmas time season since. So glad to have you in the community!

Hi everyone! I'm Carrie, one of the moderators at the DVC Fan Facebook group and now these new boards!

So excited for these new forums - chatting with members and potential members online was so helpful as I analyzed (and analyzed...) how to become a DVC member! I've since made so many friends through our shared love of DVC - our DVC Fan community really is special!

I live about 15 minutes from Disneyland with my son Josh. We are at the parks several times a month and I try to get to Orlando about 2-3x a year as well. Our most recent international trip was to Tokyo Disney, which we quickly fell in love with. Josh and I also cruise quite often, mostly on Royal Caribbean, but we've also tried Disney and loved it. I am an avid credit card points junkie, which helps fund most of our travel!

I own a favorite week contract at Riviera along with a BLT contract, which is likely to be swapped out for something else later this year. (Sorry BLT lovers!)

Outside of Disney and travel, I manage the recruiting department for a public accounting/advisory firm. On the weekends when not at Disney, we love to be in nature and explore Southern California.

Hello! Excited to have this new forum! I'm Julie. I live on the West Coast but our favorite parks are in WDW so we own at Boulder Ridge and Polynesian. As a kid I grew up in Southern CA, so absolutely love Disneyland too but we don't go there as often.

We are Charlotte & Lewie from all over, but I think our final and permanent home will be in Herriman, Utah, just south of Salt Lake City Utah.

We’ve been life long Disney people, starting with Lewie with the first visit to WDW in 1973 and Charlotte in the 1980s when Lewi first took her there. Our kids grew up going frequently, spending time at both Disneyland and WDW.

We made our first purchase with DVC in late 2023 shortly after the first grandchild arrived. We are taking both on their first trip next Spring.

I’m looking forward to the forums. We have loved the DVC Fan community and the weekly VLOGs.

Hello! My name is Kevin and I live in Park Ridge, which is right outside Chicago. I went to Disney when I was about 8. In 2017 my wife planned a trip for our family as an Easter surprise. I reluctantly agreed and well, fell in love with Disney.

Sometimes I wonder if my wife regrets that first trip. I bought at VGF during the ‘23 Fire sale and added 100 more at Poly a year later. Had there been no VGF Fire sale I was going to buy at Poly anyway. Initially I thought we’d go once year at most but we went 3 times last year and have 2 more trips set this year. I also have taken up running and have run 3 runDisney races with #4 coming up next week. Last fall I surprised my family by buying them bibs for the Wine & Dine 5k. The kids loved everything about the race except the early start time. I almost bought into DVC in 2022 and listened to a lot of podcasts, mainly yours. We also have 2 dogs too and wish we could bring them one day.

Hi DVC family! We’re Joel & Jodie and have been DVC members since 2021. We live in WI and neither of us had been to Disney as kids. Our first trip was 2014 when we took our 5yo nephew. He loved it but I think we loved it more because we went back the following year. So in our 40’s, we became Disney adults! We used to do Vegas 2x a year and traded in the Bellagio for Cinderella’s castle. How’s that for a shift in gears? LOL

We own at BRV and last year added on SSR points because once you stay in a 1bdrm… well, you know!

We love this community; it brings us joy and we even learn stuff! Truly looking forward to future meet-ups. ❤️

Hi, Jennifer here…. Been part of DVC Fan since its birth (I think). I am an Aulani/Copper Creek owner since 2015. I am actually sitting on my balcony at Aulani this morning watching the “Kona Low” rain fall (and regretting the studio this trip). Glad to be part of this group.

Nich and Steve - West Coast DINKS who live between Seattle and Tacoma. Magic Key and think of Disneyland as our home resort usually going for 5-6 short (3-4 night) trips a year. But of course love WDW / Aulani / DCL.

We own at Riviera (LOVE our first home resort - we bought in 2020 using unused vacation funds due to the pandemic), VGC and VDH.

It’s fun to change it up with solo trips in studios or 1 bedrooms on up to Grand Villas with family and friends. Addonitis has been a thing many times but trying to marinate in our current points for a little while. But if they add another Disneyland DVC at some point you know we’re in!

We love collecting Disney pins, artwork, popcorn buckets, spirit jerseys, DVC points and friends :)

Both teachers so you know when we usually travel. Nich = Ursula. Steve = Donald. Oh we have two cats: Bert & Ernie.

Appreciate the DVCFan community - a fun group. Thanks to Paul and Amy for all you do.

Hello, everyone. I’m Micah Hester. My wife and I live in Little Rock, AR, with 3 adult kids who live in the NW corner of AR. We have been DVC members since 2022 (SSR, resale) adding VGF in 2023 (direct).

Originally from SoCal, I grew up on Disneyland, but moved to SE US in the early ‘90s for graduate school (philosophy/ethics) and have been going to WDW since 2005 when our older 2 kids were 6 and 4. We get back about every 1-3 years, depending on…well…life and finances.

Have been loving the DVC Fan community since Paul and Amy put out the Hilton Head video a few years ago. Was hooked by their personalities, candor, as well as the resort review itself (still haven’t made it to HH). Been watching everything since (and I post infrequently on FB and Patreon with pointless offerings). Thanks for making this a great place to connect and learn.

Hey Now everyone!  My name is Derek or as Jeff & Paul have been calling me lately "Resale Derek."  However, for these new forums I'm gonna go with DVCDerek & I'm so glad to be here and part of another amazing component of the DVC Fan community! 

I live about 25 minutes away from Walt Disney World in Windermere, Florida, with my 'lovely wife' (sorry Paul) of nearly 30 years (May 13th will be our 30th anniversary!).  Annie & I have been DVC members since all the way back in 1999 (Boardwalk for $70 bucks a point!).  I was fortunate to work for the Walt Disney Company for nearly 20 years including as a direct DVC guide in Chicago and Florida, and also on cruise ships with DCL.   I've been blessed to be part of the DVC Resale Market now since 2017 helping thousands of folks get their DVC questions answered & buy/sell their Disney Vacation Club.  

Annie and I have two incredible boys: Owen (21, a Florida State University finance rockstar) and Connor (17, crushing it as a junior in high school).  Oh, we also have two crazy, lovable dogs: Woody & Luna (brother-sister rescue dogs)

After all these years we love our DVC more than ever using it for WDW staycations throughout the entire year (or as many as I can borrow from next year) as well as our beloved Vero Beach.   I'm beyond grateful for Paul & Amy for all their hard work & passion in making this amazing community what it is today—and I love meeting you all in person when we're out and about in the parks & at the resorts!  You all make this community so special and such a wonderful part of my life each day when I'm able to connect with you, answer questions and hear your amazing stories.  And never ever forget...Points Are Fun.

Thanks buddy! Grand Floridian right next door for 1 night as we got married at the wedding pavillion waaaaay back - and dinner at CA Grill! I looked into a vow renewel at the pavillion and saw the cost .... yeah no, it was a far cry from when our entire wedding AND honeymoon AND park tickets was like 3K total ;)

Hi there! I'm Lauren, one of the moderators for the DVC Fan Facebook group and for this lovely new forum! I also write blogs for DVC Fan, DVC Rental Store, and DVC Resale Market.

I've been a huge Disney World fan since I was young, and I still consider it my happy place. We purchased our first DVC contract at the BoardWalk in 2019 and shortly afterwards added on at Bay Lake Tower thanks to add-on-itis. Our last add-on was the Grand Floridian (thanks, Derek!). I'm originally from New York but now reside in Florida with my husband and son, and honestly, I would probably never have considered that move if it weren't for DVC and spending more time in Florida.

Hello from the Jersey Shore! We are Nick and Geralyn from North Wildwood NJ. We bought into DVC to share our fondness for all things Disney with our two princess granddaughters. Our daughter was already onboard and we converted our son-in-law to the magic.

We are both retired. I worked for DoD supporting the services for 38 years and my wife was a grade school teacher for almost 20 years.

We all love SSR and its close proximity to Disney Springs.

We have cruised on the Fantasy and the Wish and our granddaughters are asking when we are going on another cruise; hopefully next year!

Looking forward to the DVC Cruise on Utopia of the Seas.

Hey now! I know we have talked about Wildwood before. Have you ever had the fried tomatoes from The Lobster House in Cape May? They are the best ever- the only place I have ever seen that fries ripe red tomatoes- it’s like magic. I always asked for a side of ranch. I miss those things.

Can we nickname you Lenny the Lurker?

Yes I have. They are really good. But the fresh baked everything/onion bread with honey butter is to die for. We always buy extra loaves in the fish market and freeze them.

By the way, I checked and the Lotus Inn does not participate in DVC Point Swaps. I think your company needs to work on that….:)

Hello Everybody,

We are Alysha and Cody McDonald (main poster on DVC Fan Forum) and currently live just outside of Savannah, GA but will be moving to California this Summer for a brief period. Just enough time to knock out some time at the California Resorts and Aulani is already being planned for December 2026.  

I (Cody) am on year 16 of my military career and my wife Alysha, works for some company called Monera Financial. Give Kids the World (GKTW) and Make-A-Wish became special to our family, and it is a big reason why when I retire, we are moving to Central Florida.

We are not the type that fell in love with Disney when we were kids but instead, we grew into it when we became adults. So, we are fairly new to DVC and the Disney community. We bought our first DVC contract in December 2024 and fell in love with the thought of having points so much we bought a second contract before we even stayed in a resort and before our first contract had even closed.

Ultimately, we are both grateful for what the DVC Fan Community has done for us. It all started with watching a couple of YouTube videos when we initially thought we wanted a Riviera resale contract (come to find out we didn’t want it because of the restrictions). We met some awesome people during Summerfest 2025 at Hoop-Dee-Doo, and my wife has a new job and boss that she really seems to enjoy.

California will be fun, but we know you’ll love living in Florida eventually!

Carly and Matthew Spencer from Arlington, VA reporting for duty! I am originally from Pennsylvania and my husband is from West Virginia. We started our love for Disney when we lived in Southern California. We enjoyed many years of trips to Disneyland (especially Trader Sam’s!). When we moved back east, we decided to dive into DVC and made Saratoga Springs our home resort. We are loving DVC so far. Our first trips were to Aulani and Saratoga Springs. Our next trip is at the Polynesian. I’m sure we’ll get addonitis after that stay…😂 We are both Geologists, love the outdoors, and if we’re not at Disney we’re probably on an adventure with our goofy golden retriever named Flynn (Yes, he is named after Flynn Rider…).

So excited to have this new forum. It will be my go to for the latest DVC information and all things Disney.

Hi everyone! My real name is Jill but I'm going with Clara since that's the name I use on another Disney-related forum. (It's a reference to a character from Doctor Who.) I'm 44 years old and live in Nebraska. My husband and I will be spending our 20th anniversary at Disneyland this summer. We have a 12 year old son who is autistic and basically my whole world revolves around him.

Growing up, I went to WDW a few times and loved it! First trip was in 1987. Then at age 23, I went to Disneyland for the first time and it has become my favorite park. I lived in CA briefly (my husband is a CA native) and had a Disneyland AP for a while (back when the premium pass was only around $350!)

My husband went to WDW for the first time in 2008 and we "splurged" on a moderate resort (POR.) Then we took two more trips before our son was born but stayed at Pop Century. We visited Wilderness Lodge for fun once and fell in love but didn't think we'd ever be able to stay there.

Our son's first Disneyland trip was when he was just under 2 years old. He has now been there a total of 7 times. He's been to WDW twice.

We never really considered DVC. It never seemed "worth" it since we stayed value at WDW and off site at Disneyland. But that changed in February 2023. We had a stay at Park Vue on Harbor booked. But then a friend of mine messaged me and said if we wanted, she could get us a reservation at the Grand Californian with a 40% off discount. We took her up on the offer and figured it would be a once in a lifetime thing for us.

Two months later, we had our first DVC contract - resale at VGC! We used those points to stay at BRV in January 2024 (our son's first WDW trip.) A couple months after that, we purchased our second and third DVC contracts - both for BRV resale.

Fast forward to this year....we bought our first direct contract at VDH. Still haven't stayed there yet but really excited about it!

Wow....this was long. Sorry! If you know me, you probably know I tend to ramble.

Hello all. My name is Steve and I am from East Hampton, NY. My wife and I became DVC members in 2024. We have three sons that are currently aged 17 (soon graduating high school and on his way to attend Virginia Tech), a 14 year old and an 11 year old. Our home resort is Bay Lake Tower. Like most people, I wish we joined years ago. So far my family has taken 3 trips since we have become DVC members. It has been an absolute blast being able to make these memories. I can't wait to see what DVC has in store for us in our future.

Outside of Disney, I currently have 21 years in law enforcement. One of my main hobbies is I have been a member of the 501st Legion since 2014, which for those of you who do not know what this is, it's a worldwide Star Wars costuming club. If you have ever been to a library, charity event, sporting event etc and have seen Star Wars characters then most likely they are a part of the 501st Legion.

I am thrilled that DVCfan created a forum. I know that most people believe forums are dying but there are still some of us that still prefer them over social media and Discord. I am a forum admin and moderator for two 501st Legion forums and I think it keeps information organized way better then social media. I would like to say thank you to DVCfan for creating all of the content to keep us all knowledgeable and entertained. Watching the videos on YouTube for 6 months helped me make informative decisions when it came to purchasing my contract.
