Once you’ve really looked at the charts, anything under 125ish is really more of an every other year ownership. Which by the way isnt a bad way to go - even if you go every year. You can score a great deal at a moderate for that non DVC year stay!

We have 245 points over 2 contracts (direct and resale) which seems to be a sweet spot for us as we can only take one trip a year. We do utilize the bank/borrow strategy for our small direct contract.

Wow! Those are some great points. May I ask what kind of vacations you are able to take with those points?

450 points across three direct contracts. We usually stay OKW 1 Bedroom because they go way farther than most. We have a 10 day stay (OKW 1 BR) in July and it's only 276 points which means we can stay about 16 days a year or so if we stretch studios for the remainder.

We will almost certaily be getting more points in the form of a resale contract at some point so we can stay longer/in different resorts.

This sounds wonderful. I am thinking we build our base with 200 direct points then probably only resale after that unless the incentives are right.

Laura, do you find in practice that home resort priority is important to you? With a spread like this do you do multiple smaller trips and make use of 11-month window of each or combine together? Same or different UY's?

200 points. 150 direct copper creek and another 50 resale copper creek. Enough points for a two bedroom every other year during school break in april.

If we go other times its usually less points and will rent out the extra.

I do use the 11 month priority to book something. Many times, we have stayed there and many times we've switched it up at the 7 month window. I just want to make sure to have my favorite times booked. February is my son's birthday and May is my birthday (our fav times). I, who used to live in Florida, stayed last September for 20 nights in a studio. It's hot as heck, but the points are LOW and the crowds are also low. I actually enjoyed myself. I hope to do that again in future years.

It is just me & my son, we usually do studios (the hardest to get). I'd say half of my visits I go solo. We have splurged in December and did a 1BDR. It is hard going back to the studio, but studio pts sure go a lot further.

I have stayed at ALL east coast DVC resorts, including Vero and Hilton Head. Being solo, I don't mind a split stay.

We have 450 points spread over three home resorts (in order of purchase):

150 Poly (resale);

150 GF (direct during the fire sale in '23);

150 BWV (two resale contracts: 50 + 100)

All of our contracts are December UY except for the 50-point BWV (April). That can create some challenges when planning trips and, for that reason, it would be the first contract I'd let go in the event we ever choose to downsize. We (family of four with two elementary-age boys) typically stay in studios with the occasional "splurge" of a one-bedroom. We did recently stay in a two-bedroom with my MIL at HHI for a wedding weekend, and it was a dream!

150 Poly direct here, but we visit every other year so I'm not surprised that most people are in the 200-400 range if they go yearly.

We're also staying in studios, but I can definitely see us buying a resale contract down the road when our toddler becomes a teen. Gotta give the older kids some room to be moody. 😜

We have been talking for years about adding at least another 100 points and finally did it. We have family we want to take and want bigger room options. We also have been going to more runDisney events (did my first runDisney in 2015). Still considering more....add-on-itis is so real!

I am thinking about eventually selling BLT to break it up into 150 direct and 150 bargain basement sleeparound points. I an considering direct in the future to be able to stay at new properties and to feel like a “real” totally full member. I know we totaly are as resale only, but it doesn’t necessarily always feel that way.

This is a great bank of points! Love the diversity of resorts. It's sad that for several weeks of the year you still don't have enough points to stay in Poly Bungalow for a week. You might be able to pull off staying in a studio at OKW for 2-1/2 months though....

Thanks! Dont really have a desire to stay in a Poly Bungalow, Maybe a TreeHouse at SSR. We did stay for a week in a 3 bedroom grand villa at Jambo House. That will be very hard to beat! 3 balconies and a Pool Table!

Passed ROFR so we sre sitting at 600. That gives us our dedicated Poly points for the family and then extra for a second trip or add on days for split trips.

Do people usually use up their points "perfectly" each year? I noticed most resale contracts seem to have a nice clean cut off where the points are all gone or some years are still 100% full, but usually not partial amounts left. Is it that easy to use up your yearly allotment perfectly?

I've made sure to bank any extra I have. I've only been DVC for two years and I've used them easily.

We have never used our points "perfectly". We usually bank what we have left. Some years we borrow. We also use points to get the Sorcerer's pass.

This year I was able to book a week perfectly at 150 points. However, my next use year is not evenly split and I'm banking 5 points. It really depends on what you book and when. I can see if people always vacation in the resort on the same week that they could definitely always have a "clean plate" if you will.

Lol same! We have 300 points (mixed direct and resale) across 3 resorts. I think the borrowing has worsened since we have become locals. 😅

100% Being local means we can just go whenever:) and we make good use of that:)

We have 75 across 2 contracts at BWV, and 100 across two contracts at VGC. All resale. I wouldn't mind adding on at Boardwalk if a smallish contract pops up. We are one bedroom people. It would be nice to have a few more points for more premium views.

Wow! How often do you get to go? I could only dream of that many points. I do love the Riviera, Copper Creek and I own a resale with SSR too.

Well, we pretty much never do studios, so the points don't go as far as they could. The year, we've done 2 8-night stays, have another 8-night stay coming up next month, and are doing 4 nights around Halloween. Next year, I'm planning to use a couple years worth of our CCV points and book a grand villa over Thanksgiving and invite some extended family along. It's been fun so far!
